I agree with you. If they have an etymological meaning and have a history of use then they are legitimate names. Like names that have been used for 100+ years

Is Briony a classic girl's name? I like it, but I can't figure out if it's classic or not.

I love classic names, but my husband has...interesting taste. So I've always been stuck having to work around that. It's hard, finding something classic that is still different enough to appease him.

I got lucky when he agreed to name our daughter Emma.

Technically, it's Bryony - but I hate that! I hate the two Y's, I adore Briony, though.

I have a similar issue - my SO wants to name our baby Rhapsody.

My niece's middle name is Keturah. I didn't like it at first but it has grown on me.

Her first name is Aaliyah though. :x She looks NOTHING like an Aaliyah..ySniC.jpg

:D That made me lol so hard...

With this one, if it was a boy he wanted to name him Hawk. (After Hawkeye) Or Perseus. Both got shot down. I countered with Clint, since I really like that name and it's Hawkeye's alter ego, but he didn't like that one.

He's sold on Canaan, though, which I could make work. And I've got a maybe on Esau, which I would love to use!

I'm glad that Briony's considered legit! I can't decide if it's too close to Brooks, though...
