If your Dr. said it wouldn't hurt, it should be safe..

I was told, when I was hospitalized and in pain and found out another lady in the High Risk Maternity Ward was on vicodin, that it wasn't good, but if it was absolutely necessary, they'd do it.
I'm not sure what SPD is either so I'm not totally sure.

This, I was told the same. I was in a car accident/and bit by a dog while pregnant. They said they wouldn't put me on anything because of the risks. Maybe because I would have to be on them for awhile? Idk.

i think thats why. my midwife said she couldnt prescribe them for more than a few days if her supervisor person wold even allow it. i think the reason that its bad in the third trimester is becaue the baby can become addicted and suffer withdrawls after birth if taken daily.

They prescribed it for my kidney pain only because the pain was so intense it threw me into early labor once. I didnt take it everyday though only when the pain was pretty much unbearable.

I wish I had vicodin for my SPD. I couldn't walk from 15 weeks on.

That would be sad! I'm not sure what it would do, but they said no! And it sucked haha, but if that's what would happen then its worth it.

I have a bad tooth that I dont have the money to get fixed and asked my Doc about vicodin and if it would hurt the baby... She said that if I needed it they would tell the denist it was ok, but she also said that it could cause the baby to go through withdraws. I've been taking regular acetaminophen without the hydrocodone when needed.

they prescribed Vicodin to my neighbor for her headaches. I thought that was odd.. considering she was like 16 weeks pregnant at the time and were well aware she was pregnant.

L&D and my doctor both have prescribed me Vicodin for migraines/contractions since I have been having a lot of contractions/labor and they can't break my water til 39 weeks. (Only 1 more day now! I'm 4-5cm dilated, 90% effaced, 0 station) But I have been given Vicodin since about 34 weeks and was told they are fine to use in moderation once your baby is past the stage of organ development. I don't even take the prescribed amount. One a day if I have to is all I take.

My doctor prescribed vicodin to me when I was in the hospital a week and a half ago. I'm 32 weeks and he said it wouldn't hurt the baby. It didn't do anything to me but make me sleepy.

vicodin is a narcotic... So when they do give you it while pregnant the dose isn't that high to prevent withdraws that both you and your baby can go through. As long as you dont over due it.... its fine but do know withdraws may happen.
