My next appt is when I will be 11w1d... wondering if they can hear the heartbeat with the doppler that early? I have heard the h/b via US already.

Thanks!

I think the first time they used the doppler with me was at my 10 week appointment and it was very clear.

for normal patients with no problems during pregnancy my doctor always waits til 9-11 weeks because he can usually hear the h/b. it depends on how much padding is there, and how everything is set up, but for the first appt with my OB he always tries to hear it. i've far exceeded that with him, as my first inital ob appt is supposed to be the 7th but i've already seen him 3 or so times.

Depending on the position of the baby I believe the earliest is 9weeks! I have a personal doppler at home and cannot wait until I can use mine.

i heard at 10wks with both my pregnancies at a free clinic. this time i went to my dr at 13 wks after already hearing it at 10wks and the dumb nurse couldnt find it... they were making fun of the nurse at the free clinic saying im probably not 10wks since they did an us saying i was 11wk5d when i was really 13 and they turned out to be the stupid ones cuz my 23wk ultrasound was right along with my original due date from the "stupid' free clinic lol

I was 10 weeks both time that I heard the boys' HBs for the first time. I have heard as early as 9 weeks though depending on the position of the baby, etc.

Where did you get your personal doppler from? I don't want to buy a cheapy one from WM. I want a good one that will work lol.

My dr. won't even try to find it with a doppler before 12 weeks, but only because they don't want to freak mommas out if they can't find it. I had no problem hearing mine at my 12-week appt.

HI))) I am a happy one cause yesterday we got a doppler delivered to our door and we immediately started trying to hear the heart beat. I am 8 wks and we knew it could be too early... we could not find it first and then in the evening tried again and my husband got on a FAST and strong HEARTBEAT - i would not confuse it with mine for nothing!!! Then in a bit we tried it again and found it in the middle instead of on the right side.... It was amazing and scary some - it's my first one and it was a moment to realize that there was someone else in you - pretty alive and active!
