I was induced wednesday due to sever calcified placenta. They noticed the calcium deposits during my 34 week ultrasound. At that time baby was weighing 5lbs 4oz. At my ultrasound wednesday, i was exactly 37 weeks, the cord bloods flow was showing low pressure, the baby was still passing her bpp and nsts, heart rate was fine, but wasnt showing much growth, most likely from lack of nutrients. My midwife explained that an induction this early, and with me only being 1cm dilated, could end in c section, or with lots of other issues. I progressed very slowly, they started pitocin at noon, and broke my water at 4pm. I was still a 1 at 7 and was a 3 at 11pm, at that point i started iv pain meds and was still sure i could go with out the epi. I slowly progressed, about a cm every 2 or 3 hours. the contractions got more and more painful. The Stadol was making me tired between contractions, it was hard to focus and concentrate even on the tv... Ill have to finish my story in another post due to me using my cell phone.

At about 530 the pain got so intense and i got the urge to push. and pass a bowel movement, I was so sure she was close but they checked and I was only a 6-7, I was in so much pain I felt I couldnt go till 10 so i begged for the epi, it took an hour to get it, and i was crying and screaming i thought i was going to die this whole time. as soon as the epi was in i felt my legs numbing, but the contractions kept getting worse, I asked if they could up the epi, around 645, i didnt feel any relief because my contractions were so painful. the nurse checked before she upped it, and sure enough i was fully dilated, in an hour and 15 minutes i went from 6 -7 to 10! my midwife was in the next room delivering so i had to wait. my mw came in at 715 and lifted the sheet to check where the head was, and told me to push, 2 pushes! Baylee Elizabeth was born at 7:21 she is tiny at 5lbs 11 oz. 19 in long. the placenta was gritty and solid and falling apart. they said she probably lost weight due to the calcium deposits.

Congrats! I just had my second son on 10/9. I was 39 weeks and 1 day and he weighed about the same as your daughter. He was 5lbs 14.8 oz and 19 in..no one thinks i carried him to term bc he was so small. Lol

Hope your little girl is doing well. God bless you.

Thanks! i remember reading one of your posts when he was born, she seems so tiny to me, my first daughter was 8lbs 10oz so baylee seems soo much smaller. You said your older child was small too right?

No, which is weird! My 5 yr old was 7lbs 19.5in. He's small now, 33lbs. But the size diff between the 2 is remarkable considering he was not diagnosed with any growth defiencies.!

How is Baylee now? Did the calcium affect anything other than her weight?

I didnt have an symptoms that the placenta was having issues, the baby kicked constantly, i never noticed a lack of movement. my MW noticed when we felt my belly at 32 weeks that she felt "skinny" as she put it, and had me go in for an ultrasound 2 weeks later when i was 34 weeks. at the ultrasound the tech noticed white spots all over the placenta, and it was a white line between the placenta and the uterus. even at the ultrasound she measured normal, her length of all her bones were right on or ahead. I had biophysical profile, ultrasounds, every week afterthat, and non stress tests. the placenta kept getting whiter but she was doing great keeping active, her bones and length was growing normal. then out od no where the blood flow in the umbilical cord lost pressure, it was half what it was the week before. they said that the placenta just didnt get all the right nutrients to her, she soo tiny at 19 in long she seems normal but super skinny, there is no fat on her anywhere. her butt is only 2 incches across
