I questioned this the other day at a local dept store and they said they do accept EBT cards (lonestar) but the lonestar card has foodstamps and TANF in one card! he said its like a bank debit card...you swipe at the grocery store and it gives you an option to use foodstamps or TANF. I don't really know how it works but he did mention it has 2 in one card :/

I love how some people equate poor = bad parenting.

You get a lot of your tax money back, that's the worst and most repetitive argument there is.

Honestly, I'd rather have a home in a nice neighborhood and eat grocery bought food than be homeless or live in the projects or some bad area and be able to eat some gross McDonalds. Not that every person getting FS is in that situation, but that is the case a lot. Why can't you just be happy that you CAN pay taxes and don't need assistance? Get the f**k over yourself. I know plenty of non-assistance addicts too, because they're out hustling drugs and getting rich. It's okay for them to do that though, cause they're not getting foodstamps.

Stupid.

I agree with the person who said something about couponing. The government should offer basic couponing class to help those who get FS get the most out of their money. I am not an extreme couponer AT ALL but just by using coupons here and there I have saved a lot of money. My last grocery store trip saved me $60 (30%) of my bill. I know its not much but Ive never even taken a coupon class and I've saved the much. The store you purchase food from isn't shorted any money, they get full reimbursement. In the long run this could save the government tons of money used towards FS and everyone can still get name brand products. Also, they could offer basic cooking classes to those who don't know how to cook so they can prepare a healthy and affordable meal. (Not sure that either idea would actually happen but it would save us all a ton of money)

When it comes down to it a lot of us single working moms don't have time for the couponing bs we use foodstamps to feed our children and that is that.if I'm low on money and food ill eat at work so that I know I can get the best foods I can for my kids and no sahm who's man pays the taxes is gonna tell me where to spend my tax dollars lol

Cutting a few coupons doesnt take too much time. Maybe 5 minutes tops. And only needs done once a week. On the plus side any money u saved could be used to stock up on other items.

Not sure who the sahm comment was towards or if it was just a generalized statement. But the government will decide if this topic is going to happen in all states without our input. Theyve already told me my restaurant will be going to this option eventually so i can see it going through everywhere else.

That doesnt make sense. On foodstamps, your given a ceryain amount each month & quite frankly, your given plenty & whatever you domt spend each month, rolls over to the next month. They domt expire, so it doesnt save the govt any $

Some of us would be screwed without them. I dont have cable or internet. All I have is a cheap phone with the internet & im good with that. I dont need cable & prob wouldnt get it if I could afford it. Only time I watch tv is when my kids are asleep. I could get cash asst too, but I dont sbsolutly need it. Id be happy in a 1 room shack as long as my kids have what they need. Unfortunatly there are people who take advantage & give people like me a bad name. Then I gotta see people like u & others making general statements that include me.

Truth is, your tax $ dont pay for any of it. You get a tax refund & the chances of any u MAY pay, going into FS is slim to none. also most that get FS, have paid taxes. I know I have. Ive worked since 14. So u & no ones elses taxes pay for me! If I can raise 3 smart, happy, funny, polite & thoughtful kifs on $700 cash a month, pay my bills with that, so can everyone. Lets be honest tho. Everyone wants exyra buy nice things & non essentials tho.

Thats because no one is running out gettin on FS so they can have free fast food. The economys in the shitter & more & more people arent working. Thats why FS have incresed in #s

Thats crazy. I cant work for the exact same reason. I get $704 a month with his SSI & $690 in FS. I used to also get $300 every 2 weeks in cash zsst., but they wanted me to do 20hrs a week of job search or volunteering & I cant, but im ok without it. I manage to get by with what we absolutly need. I dont see why u dont or why u get so little in FS. Mines also for a fam of 5 tho. Plus, I live in Boston, which is extremely expensive
