Does facebook do more harm than good? G&G's Mommy 66 kids; Michigan 1186 posts

What is your opinion? I'll start a list and keep updating.

Pros
An fun way to keep in touch with people.
An excellent resource for those at a distance, i.e. military.
An easy way to share pictures.
Online local flea markets!
Can be good for some businesses.

Cons
Can be a time waster for some people.
Invasion of privacy.
Many people post stupid stuff not worth reading... rants, etc.
Many people post only the stuff that makes them look perfect.
Kids sometimes use facebook in negative ways, start fights, call names, post inappropriate pics etc.
Can be another avenue leading to cheating.

I think that it does more good by keeping people connected. The only drama I've ever seen was going to happen either way whether over the internet or IRL.

I don't like being easily accessible, so I don't have one. I use too but everyone would use it to contact me to watch their kids or ask me for just random favors. It was so annoying. Also I got pretty tired of hearing about people and their stupid rants....and bragging! LOTS OF BRAGGING! I got tired of hearing about my friends glorify themselves on facebook.

nope not for me!

Nope, I don't think so. I mean, I guess it does for those people who feel like they need to snoop at the sign of their wife/husband talking to someone else or feel like they need to take it to FB when they have a problem with someone. But it works fine for us. I think it's good... We get to keep family updated and stay updated ourselves.

Pro's.. online local flea markets... I am addicted to those things!! Today I got a free piano because the lady is tired of it being in her house...perfectly tuned!!

Con's.... I spend a lot of time looking at nothing on regular pages. Nothing is real on there anymore. Everyone has perfect kids, perfect lives, perfect families. It's very PC in my FB circle.

I think it does more good... for ADULTS. I see my 15 year old cousins and kids I went to school with on there and I just can't help but be embarrassed sometimes. Talking about fighting people, calling other girls sluts and b***hes, posting pictures they really shouldn't be posting, talking about getting drunk and high. I know they're kids but posting the latest video of you getting in a fight at school is NOT cool, sorry.

i looooove facebook, i love keeping friends and family updated and being updated as well, love the funny groups and being able to share pics with everyone and of course keeping updated on people from school. and i really dont think its an invasion of privacy at all, you choose what you put on your page and who sees it....

lol!! what's 'PC' though ?

I think a lot of people just aren't trashy enough to run to FB everytime they're having a problem or fight, etc. I know I rarely if EVER post something negative on my FB. I don't try to act like my life is perfect though... I do have a few people on my FB that are constantly posting annoying ass statuses... & someone who will fight w/ her husband on her FB page... oh wow

after reading some replies, I would say I am neutral. It can be good or bad, depending on how you use it and what your intentions are with FB.

You can call me an old fashion gal, I rather meet up for tea and cookies at my house for my social needs.

Well yes, he defiantly does. But things like that would arise if facebook wasnt in place. Although I think technology has taken a toll on peoples relationships in general.
