Dark Brown/Red Discharge from Nipples ! xARLEYx Due December 1 (boy); Hawaii 68 posts

I was about to shower before I left for my doctor appointment earlier this afternoon and I saw a little collustrum (I don't know how to spell or pronounce it) so I squeezed it a bit and this dark reddish brown discharge came out of my nipples . It was really little but it freaked me out . I'm assuming it's blood . I started to shower and squeezed it again , and the hot water made more come out . So I told my OB and she told me that it's a sign of breast cancer . Doesn't necessarily mean I have it but she wants me to go to get a mammogram to make sure that it's not ! I was planning on ONLY breast feeding my son but now I can't until I know for sure that it's not breast cancer .

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS BEFORE ? 'Cause I'm freakin' out about this . Cancer runs in my family and I am so scared that I have it :| I hope it's just like some weird side effect I'm getting from being pregnant or something .

I have had that a few times during pregnancy and no dr has said anything about cancer when I've mentioned it to. I have a high rate of breast cancer in my family too.

Did you ever get checked to see if you have breast cancer ?
I'm like freaking out it's not even funny . Especially at the fact that I'm only 17 (going to be 18 in less than a month) but that's still young you know ?

I do self exams and have drs do the normal breast exam.

My colostrum this evening when I was taking a shower it was dark orange it was clear a few days ago. My amazing Ob last pregnancy told me to quit googling lol

I'm trying to keep myself sane so I don't google things anymore . I HAD TO GOOGLE THE BREAST CANCER STUFF THOUGH . I was sitting here feeling hopeless and crying my eyes out . It says that you can have breast cancer even if there are no lumps in your breast :| And any discharge besides colostrum is signs of breast cancer but not necessarily . Mine is just staying dark reddish brown cause I showered again a few hours ago and more came out :|

Sweetheart pregnancy messes with your body. Hot water will make more come out when your milk comes in hot showers feel great when engorged because it makes milk come out. You are very pregnant and you has colostrum come out. I've had blood also from my nipples from friction of my bra. Don't cry and get upset. You're goin to be fine momma :)
