Next week my doctor is planning on stripping my membranes at 36 weeks. I am pretty nervous because I hear its really painful. She wants to get me going because my pregnancy has had alot of complications. Though she says if my body and baby are not ready nothing will happen. So may have to get stripped a few times :( Hoping everything goes well.

Um, I'd refuse personally. 36 weeks isn't even term.

36 weeks is really really early to have your membranes swept... I doubt your body will do anything about it.

If you dont want them to do it tell them not to idk why they would do that at 36 weeks anyways ur not even term till 37. Id tell ur dr no u can refuse it they cant force u to do it.

Take charge of your body, you should never just have a "we'll see" attitude when iy comes to you and your baby. If you're questioning it being done, do some research and tell your OB you do not want it done.

I am 3 days from 37 weeks when she strips them. But I dont think my body will do anything if she is not ready. She does not want to induce me until I am closer because that is a for sure labor. But with all the problems I have been having she wants to attempt to get things moving I guess. i dont think she would do it if it was going to harm us. I trust her she has been an awesome doc.

They are doing an ultrasound next tuesday to check on her and her size. I have researched and it states if my body and baby are not ready they wont cooperate. Its not like an induction for a for sure labor.

Stripping your membranes opens you and your baby up to a world of infection. Honestly the baby will come when it's ready, don't try and rush things.

It does open you up for infection, my doctor refused to do it till I was 40 weeks. I did it and cramped for 3 days till I went into actual labor. I'm sorry if you're having complications, but if they're not life threatening for you or your little girl I'd try to manage another week or two. Another week of being uncomfortable might be just what she needs to not have to spend any time in the NICU. Best of luck to you, I hope it all turns out well.

Sounds a bit off to strip membranes at 36.
