There's no point in admitting you if you're not contracting.

When you're contracting regularly AND making progress. I suffered with painful contractions for 2 weeks, 5cm dilated, but no progress. Then my water broke :D Woo.

If you are dilating you are probably contracting and not feeling it yet. 4 cm is considered active labor and you would be admitted, at least where I am delivering. I would ask your doctor what their policies are.

Yeah, I sat at 3-4 for a while, too. I wasn't admitted.

I was 5 for a week (3 for a month) and didn't get admitted until I was having regular contractions.

your labor has to be more or less active. With my first one I was 6 cm when I got to the hospital so, they kept me. With my daughter I was 4 but I went in with bloody show. It mostly depends on what your body is doing.

I was admitted when I was only 1. Its if youre in active labor as in contracting regularly
