MEGA BLOKS vs LEGOS... KNZ. 3 kids; Washington 59253 posts

We have alot of lego sets, lego everything--
and i've already gotten a lot of other presents for my son for Christmas,
but in doing his lego land room today, i kinda want to have a few more lego sets for him to have new/stocked there. without breaking the bank.

I saw "Mega Bloks" at the store today.
I read online that they are compatible with legos but that they are flimsier?
Anyone bought 'em before?

The price difference just, isn't even comparable.

I have a lot of the Halo Mega Bloks lol (nerdy but they are SO cool) and I haven't seen a huge difference. Other than price. They feel the same and they work with actual Legos. So I think getting a couple sets would be fine.

They're not compatible so he wouldn't be able to use the Legos and mega blocks together. My DS has both and almost never plays with the mega blocks so for us, they were a waste of money

Awesome. I saw a few really cool sets, and yes! They are incredibly "cheaper".
Okay, i'm excited to get 'em now :D thanks!

We have them and I honestly can't tell the difference unless I really pay attention. They are a cheaper grade of plastic, but not enough that you really notice. And yeah, I got a 1400 piece bucket for $15, so I don't pay close attention lol

We have alot of lego sets already, i just want to get a few for him to have to open when he walks into his new lego room-- but i've already spent so much to make the lego room & on his other gifts, getting a few inexpensive ones would be perfect.

I have a tub of mixed legos and megabloks, the only way I can tell them apart, aside from logo, is the colors. They mix just fine. The only ones I've found to be flimsy are the base boards, and most of the ones I have are lego brand, not mega blok.

Where did you get yours? I saw 'em at walmart, but they didn't have a huge selection.

I'll take pictures when it's all done.
It's essentially a walk in closet converted to a 'no sisters allowed' lego room. he has a lego corner/table in their play room but she always attacks his stuff.
I've painted/am painting the walls lego green and then one wall with chalk board paint so he can map out "lego blue prints", then covering part of a wall in lego baseplates and moving his table in there, oh, and figuring out clever storage.
