if you or your child ever had scabies, did you not itch... my son was diagnosed earlier this week and never itched it at all... may as well not have noticed it. it started on his mouth and never got on the trunk of his body were mostly just red dots on arms and legs with some skin tone colored bumps and blisters on hands and feet and about 3 red bumps in his butt crack, monday he had fever and vomited and thats the day the face rash started, took about two days before blisters formed, SOOO i was wondering maybe this is hand foot and mouth disease and we were wrongly diagnosed....wishful thinking i guess. but we sent a child home from daycare yesterday and they were diagnosed with hand foot and mouth. we treated for scabies wed night and its slowly drying up and scabbing over so i guess its probably scabies...but id much rather it be hand foot and mouth....

he also had four red bumps just in his butt crack, and thats another sign of hand foot and mouth. im not big on self diagnoses but our pediatrician has failed us on multiple occasions and when we move in 2 months were switching.

Signs and Symptoms of Scabies

The most common symptom of scabies is severe itching, which may be worse at night or after a hot bath.
A scabies infection begins as small, itchy bumps, blisters, or pus-filled bumps that break when scratched. Itchy skin may become thick, scaly, scabbed, and crisscrossed with scratch marks. The itching is due to a hypersensitivity reaction to the mite and/or its feces and eggs.
104_image.jpgThe areas of the body most commonly affected by scabies are the hands and feet (especially the webs of skin between the fingers and toes), the inner part of the wrists, and the folds under the arms. It may also affect other areas of the body, particularly the elbows and the areas around the breasts, genitals, navel, and buttocks.
If a child with scabies scratches the itchy areas of skin, it increases the chance that the injured skin will also be infected by bacteria. Impetigo, a bacterial skin infection, may occur in skin that is already infected with scabies.
In infants and young children, the rash can be on the scalp, palms, and soles of feet. Rashes in infants and young children can appear to be more reddened or with larger blisters.

I had it as a kid and it itched and hurt so bad. If he's not itchy, I'd get a second opinion.

How old is your son? We moved into an apartment that had scabies and we all got it. It is horrible. You are very itchy. My son was a young infant though so he wasn't able to itch himself but he had red dots all over. The doctor gave us all cream and told us to bag everything up and put it outside for a few days and the scabies die. Oh it is horrible. I did notice it on my hands a lot. It itches sooo bad. But if you don't have it and only your son does, I would wonder. Usually everyone in the household will get them because they get everywhere. (Not to gross people out, they aren't visible bugs)

Our whole house got scabies when my daughter was 7 months old . At first she had blisters in her diaper area then they slowly spread to her trunk then all over her body. We had to do three treatments to get rid of the stuff. My poor baby is now almost 4 and still has little scars on her arms from where she scratched. My husband got the rash really bad too but i never really got the rash and didn't itch that bad at all. With scabies the little rash looks like a small trail over the skin . The bites are in a line with other little bites surrounding it. We went to a dermatologist to get her diagnosed I recommend geting a refural to them. They'll do a skin scrape ( doesn't hurt) and look at it under a microscope to make for sure it is really scabies.

well we already treated him and most of it has died down but its also the exact time span for hand foot and mouth it can clear up within just a week so idk, im going to call the pediatrician monday and have them send us somewhere for either a scraping for scabies or stool test for hand foot and mouth since weve sent a child home with it. its just wierd that he had it only in his buttcrack on his chin and side of mouth, blisters/pimples on top of his hands and red bumps and clear bumps/blisters up to his elbows and same with his feet up to his knees and didnt scratch

yeah . I wouldn't get hung up on the itching . i had asked the dermatologist why i wasn't itching and he said its actually quite common not to itch that's why these cases go for so long without people noticing . However i have never heard of it in or near the mouth that would bug me.
