Sorry! YET ANOTHER PARAGARD QUESTION! Ha. Never thought having something different would freak me out so much. Got the Paragard Tuesday so a couple days ago. I used a tampon for the first time last night and now it feels like the strings aren't HANGING like they used to, but I can still feel them...is this okay or should I have the IUD checked?

Paraguard shouldn't affect a tampon. The IUD is in your uterus

The strings aren't though which is probably why she is asking. OP, it is fine to use tampons. Just make sure to check your strings after your period.

I thought I remembered the doctor telling me the strings should STAY hanging in the same spot though OR is it as long as I can feel them, I am alright? Which is it? But yes, I can still feel my strings, they just seem higher up there than before using the tampon. I am aware the IUD isn't in the same spot a tampon should go so I think I am more worried about the length/position of the IUD strings.

I'm aware of that. I guess I was concerned about the strings since they seem higher up than before I used my tampon last night.

String length will change throughout your cycle because your cervix changes position throughout your cycle. As long as you feel them I wouldn't worry.

I didn't know that. Thanks for making me feel better.

Not only will the length change throughout your cycle, they may start to curl around your cervix. Totally normal.
As long as You can feel them, I wouldn't be worried at all.

I am thinking this is what happened. I was just told to call the OB if change in length occurred, but I can still feel them.

I called the OB and because I have also had tingling in my leg since having it put in, they're worried it's lodged into a weird position or something causing the tingling and length in string to change. I was told to come in this afternoon to have it double looked, which will ultimately make me feel better since we're headed into the weekend and this is something new to me. She told me she'd rather me be worried than not, that way she knows I aware and such of something different being inside of me.

On another note, I was told the strings could be curling up around the cervix and the tingling in my leg could be my body adjusting to the IUD or a simple fluke. Only they can tell, I guess. I'll be back to update this thread after I see them this afternoon.
