Pain in ribs on right side ? A M B E R ♥ 1 child; Arlington, Massachusetts 29 posts

I went sit up in bed earlier and got the worst shooting pain on the right side of my body where my rib cage begins .
Never experienced anything like it before & now it comes back when I move certain ways & when i take a deep breath .
My little one doesn't seem to be completely resting on my right side or anything ...
Don't know what it is but it's so painful/uncomfortable !

I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow .
Anybody else having this problem ?

if it continues throughout the day i'll be calling my dr but just wanted to see what you all thought ...

Not sure what it is, but yes, especially in my 2nd trimester I would get a stabbing shooting pain in my right rib cage... Occasionally I still get it, but less frequently then my 2nd tri

Thats where ur gullbladder is. I have pains like that & when I got my last ultrasound, the lady put the sensor thingie on my ribs & said I have gullstones & my gullbladder is really big. Do the pains make u nauseous ?

Yikes !
I've kind of been feeling sick all day , but the nausea has been a reoccurring thing with all the heartburn and stuff too ...
so it's kind of hard to say if the pains are making me feel sick .

What did the dr say about the gallstones ?

They referred me 2 a specialist, I see him the 16th. He said if it gets too bad I may need surgery but not til 16-20 weeks (Im only 11wks). I also have pain in my right shoulder & all thru my back, but mines pretty servere. Hopefully urs is nothing or maybe a minor stone. I read that pregnancy & all those lovely hormones can make a tiny gullbladder problem much worse. Definately mention it to them, its nothing to take lightly if u do have a gullbladder attack.

Coulde be a pulled muscle, could be a gall bladder issue or it could be HELLP syndrome (liver pain) talk to your doctor about it soon rather then later. It could be potentially serious

No swelling or anything !
Just a general all over crappy feeling & now the pains .

the first time it did shoot up through my shoulder but now it's just in the rib area ,
I'll call my dr when the offices open ( it's only 6 am , my babygirl has been rolling around all night , keeping me up . haha )

:!:
it seems there are way too many precious organs on the right side ,
i hope its just a pulled muscle , not something more serious !

My doc said alot of women get pain/swelling in the gullbladder during pregnancy & it goes away when they have the baby. Good luck Dear !

hey huni if the pain goes from almost hip to b**b i would get your but to the docs or even ( i know this is scary) hospital - i had that with my son & it turned o ut to be pre-eclampsia - I do not want to make you panic but you shouldnt be feeling that type of pain - the odd tightening yes but that shouldnt be painfull either. From what your describing it sounds similar to me . PLEASE make sure you get it checked out properly & if this is your first child - dont let them fob you off with rubbish. - On a HAPPY note tho...my son was born at 32 weeks & 4 days - even tho this was a surprise & worrying/stressfull with him being early he is now 11 years old, happy & healthy even if he is disabled due to things that couldnt be helped. - i hope your ok & your baby stays in a bit longer & that the pain goes away . x*x

As Much as This hurts ( Trust me i know ) lol i went to the doctor asking about the same pains and my doctor informed me it is because your two bottom ribs are not connected in the front so the bigger your stomach gets it starts to Bow your ribs while you are sitting etc. It does not go away until the baby arrives .. moving around helps , i had to also up my bra strap size around my ribs so it didnt sit right on them. Its normal and lots of women experience this. Just try to smile through it.. xo good luck on the rest of your pregnancy :)
