Ground beef and BLOOD?! J.I.'s Momma 2 kids; Virginia 1563 posts

OK, I know some things have blood in the packaging, like chicken.

However when I opened up a pack of ground beef after it thawed out, it was blood in there! Ew. I've never known ground beef to have blood in the packaging. I drained as much blood out as I could before putting it on the stove top.

Is this normal?

Some blood is obviously still on the meat. Is it safe to make?

If it is animal flesh, blood is logically bound to be present.

YUM!

Yes. Raw meat will always have blood.
If it doesn't it isn't meat.

I feel so silly. I'm not much of a cook and I've never seen blood in my meat like that before. It was a lot. I was freaked out. We don't eat much meat. Thinking about becoming vegetarians..
