Those of you that have gotten breast pumps through your insurance...how did you go about it? Do you call your insurance compnay directly, or do you need something from your doctor?

My doctor gave me a prescription for one. She said I can get it for free since I will be in school and working.

You need a prescription. Many state insurances will give you a double electric if you're going back to school or work but you can also contact WIC.

With Medicaid you request one in the hospital and take it home with you.

I just have regular insurance through my husband's company...and no WIC. I don't even know if it will be covered at all, just was curious what the first step is. Thanks ladies!

I think I might get them considering I can't get away from crying babies at work, and I know I'll get so busy that I won't be able to pump all the way. They just don't look comfortable though!

I had a prescription written up by the NICU LC. But I will say that if you have a preemie, insurance is required to cover it. Luckily, I still have the one so I'm just going to use it this time around too! I'm sure doctors are willing to write prescriptions for it, I would just push the issue.

Oh and we have insurance through hubby's work. I was telling someone it was funny because the company who sends out the breast pumps actually called me the other day because the were planning to send out ANOTHER pump to me.. lol. I should have just accepted it instead of cancelling it!

Np! I had no idea they could even write "prescriptions" for pumps until I had Aubriella!
