My DD had dental work last febuary so almost a year ago and on thursday morning one of the caps fell off or broke off or what ever. She doesnt seem to be in any pain at all says it doesnt hurt ... She was just happy her tooth fell out lol ... she used that as her excuse for the tooth fairy to come .. and since she was with granny thursday night magically she found a dollar under her pillow! I of course told granny that the tooth fairy was paying high dollar since she has 20 baby teeth that will fall out (when she is like 6) and that granny better start saving now to pay for them all!! :)

My question though ... did you child have to have surgery for another cap? Is it normal for them to fall off ... the dentist biggest concern was if a nerve was exposed but they said Ailey would be in extreme pain if one was exposed! So we will be headed to the dentist here in a few hours I just wondered if anyone knew what I might expect ?! Thanks!

That happened to my son, it actually got stuck on a piece of candy and he chewed it up! We had to get a whole new one. Sometimes the glue just gets loose I think. Anyway, they gave him a mild sedative to relax him before numbing him up and it went fine.

They didnt put him under ? Ailey went under when she had hers done the first time. An I have no idea she stayed at grannys on wednesday I picked her up thursday morning and we went out to lunch and my husband said her tooth is gone I was like what ... had her smile and the cap was gone. So I dunno how it happened or when exactley I know wednesday she had it and thurday she didnt granny said she didnt notice so I dunno! I just hate anasthesia ... my son code blue flat lined on it ... ailey has had surgery 2x and never had an issue but that was before her brother had problems so now Im afraid of it even though I know she has done fine 2x before!

No, they didn't. The stuff they gave him was a liquid that he just drank and he was just really sleepy during the whole thing but not fully out. Maybe ask if there are any alternatives to putting her fully under? I can understand about not wanting for her to be put under after what happened with your son. I would express your concerns and ask for alternatives, maybe even call a different pediatric dentist and get another opinion.

I take my kids to Children Hospital Dentist in Cincinnati so wont be calling anyone else for sure .. but will ask if they dont have to put her under! Thanks I didnt know it was possible to do with out fully going under. How old is your child? My DD will be 3 tomorrow I dunno if that makes a difference did your son sit still and cooperate good?

He was around that age when they did it. And it was at the Children's Hospital here when they did it. He was fine during the procedure. Granted this was a long time ago and policies might have changed since then, but still, I'd ask.
