Hey all,

Just need some info from anyone who has been through this. I'll give you some history of my experience. For the last week my bp has been high, I am 38 weeks today and my doc wants to induce me tomorrow as I have been in and out of the hospital since last Thursday and they have been checking my bp and put me on blood pressure medication, they also did a 24 hr urine test(I have had +1 protein in my urine as well) and blood work done (which has come back fine) So my doc has decided to induce me due to hypertension.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone out there has been induced due to high bp (hypertension) what was your experience?
This is my first baby so Im really nervous about this as ideally I wanted labor to start on its own but due to the medical issue they dont want to have it go on any longer because as they keep saying the only way to lower the blood pressure is to deliver the baby. Any information would help a lot, thanks in advance :)

With my daughter I was induced after 4 weeks of bedrest at 37 weeks and it was a cake labor : ) It was long but I didn't find it hard. With my son I was induced at 31+ weeks and it was the longest hell I have ever been through. I'm sure you will do great and you're close enough to 40 weeks I highley doubt you'll have any NICU experience to worry about : )

Breath mama it's ok, the dr wanted to induce me as well but at 36 weeks and I talked her out of it due to me trying to get my hubby home from out to sea (navy) and told her that I would call her if I felt funny at all (I had high blood pressure through my entire pregnancy and was on meds the whole time got the 24 pee 3 times with him) the following week she was out sick so I was home free another week the next week she had a family emergency I was home free again but the week after that she was there and I was induced that night (I already knew it and had everything in the car waiting b/c I had a feeling she would have been there) Sure enough she induced me it was a pretty good labor at first but Raysean had other plans which caused a c-section NOTHING TO DO WITH BLOOD PRESSURE so don't worry about that just keep in mind it a c-section can happen.

If it wasn't for him doing his I have no heart beat mommy thing we would have had a sucessful vaginal birth but he had other plans. They gave me my meds while I was there and watched me closely especially since the last three months of my pregnancy I was a point from being Pre-eclamptic.

You little one in there should be fully developed and good to go mama, everything will be fine just a little sooner then you thought but you will do great, they are just worried about your health and well being since your Bp is on the high side. The labor can be kinda rougher since you are being induced but for your safety this is the best way to go about it, we all want to go naturally but sometimes nature has other ways of doing it with high BP. Just know this is the best way to take care of you since it is very scary with high BP I have passed out from it and I have had blacked out vision they were worried about a seziere or a stroke with me but again that was me, you got it at the end which is much better from the start to finish =) Good luck mama you will do great, and next time you could always go natural with our second son I did all natural labor for 78 hours and hopefully with our third who is due may 9th I will again but I am border line with my bp this pregnancy so hopefully it will stay below!
