Water breaking at 33 weeks? CandiceW 9 posts

Is it possible for your water to break at 33 weeks? Or to have a slow leak? I have been checked twice for leakage and they said it wasn't amniotic fluid. My dr said not to worry about any fluid unless it is trickling down my legs. WELL, yesterday, I was in the kitchen and it started coming out and I had to grab paper towels and stuff them in my pants(sorry to be graphic!). lol I got to the bathroom and it had went through my clothes and the paper towels were sopping. I have been told to sniff it and see if it smelled like urine. lol SO...I did, it wasn't urine and it wasn't discharge. It was WAY too watery. I didn't call the doctor just because I feel dumb calling them everytime I have a "little leakage." Then again, this is FAR more than just a little leak. I have heard that you will go into labor within 24 hours if your water breaks, then I have heard that sometimes you dont if your this early. Dont know what to do! Help!

You don't always go in to labor call ur doctor! U could get an infection if u don't deliver 24 hours after it breaks.

Call your doctor now. The longer you wait the more danger it poses to the baby. They expect you to call, and I promise you wont look stupid:D

I had a leakage with my first. I swore I thought it was my water breaking, so I grabbed my bags and went to the hospital. They told me *and they acted SOOOOOOOOO annoyed about it* that it was nothing. Go figure, a week later, my doctor goes "OH MY GOD!! NO WONDER YOU THOUGHT YOUR WATER BROKE!!" and sent me off to a place to see if there was any fluid, I pretty much had... NONE.. and I went to the hospital to be induced RIGHT after.

With in doubt, say screw them and give them a call. It can cause an infection if you have a leak which will cause problems. They are doctors, and if they like it or not, they're going to get calls from concerned soon to be moms. I'd call just in case, but thats just me.

My water started having a slow leak at 34 weeks. One doc. kept telling me it wasn't aminotic fluid, but it was. One doc said it was but said that the baby's head kept covering the leak. I was on bedrest anyway, so he kept me on bedrest untill I was 38 weeks along when they induced due to low fluid (no shit, right?).

You don't always go into labor after your water starts leaking. But I'd call your doctor or go to L and D.

Call the doc. who cares if you look stupid or not, its more important to make sure your not about to go into labor then to care about what people think. And I'm sure your not the first.... or going to be last expecting mom to call often.
