My best friend's cousin had a baby girl in November and last week the baby was taken into hospital with 4 broken ribs and the injuries were a month old. My best friend has been given emergency guardianship of the baby. I met her a few days ago. She is fine but still being tube fed as her ribs are sore when she sucks a bottle but otherwise expected to make a full recovery. The mom is blaming her boyfriend and the boyfriend is blaming the mom. either way don't you think you'd notice if your baby was injured for a month!!!!?????!!!!! She must've been in agony. Even now as she is recovering she screams when she's being picked up or dressed because of the pain in her ribs! It broke my heart and I guess I just can't understand how anyone could harm a baby intentionally. At least she's well cared for now. Do you think it's possible a mamma can not notice her child is injured that badly for a month!?

I dont think that they could get unnoticed unless THEY were doing the abuse to the baby..

poor baby..... :( I dont even want to think about it because my youngest was born 11.3.11... so it BREAKS my heart!

That's sickening. Hope the parents never get her back.

She could think it's just colic or something or has feeding issues, but I'd have taken it to a doctor before a month was up.

exactly! they both had to have done it!! their just playing the blame game! A little baby doesnt get hurt like that, without someone not noticing for a month!!

my friend is doing a great job. She already has 3 kids of her own, one of which is a very lively toddler. She adores babies and my daughter is almost 6 months old so I'm giving her all the things my LO has grown out of. We try not to focus on the abuse but every time she cries in pain you can't help but think about it. Anyway she's in the best place now with my friend and in 2 weeks they find out if it's permanent and they can adopt her.

I can't decide what's more sad - the fact that they hurt their child and left her in agony or that they don't care about anything but trying to not get in trouble for it.

They're praying for it to be permanent. They wanted another baby but after her last one she had to have a hysterectomy. This isn't the way they wanted it to happen obviously, but maybe it's fate? They have so much love to give. her husband is already so in love with the baby.
