I got WIC and I went to walmart the other day to get baby food, they had no lists or tags under the baby food to tell me which one to get, so of course I got the wrong brand. Can you guys help? I have tried looking it up, but no help, and it seems like NONE of the wal-mart workers know which is the right brand, is it beech nut, gerber what?

They didnt give you a pamphlet with what you can and cant get? When i got my wic they gave me a pamphlet, told me too call the wic offices if i had any questions. Id call your office and ask them about it

They should have given you a pamplet with your folder and vouchers telling you which food you could purchase. Also, look for the sticker by items that says "Wic approved"

I got a pamplet, but it doesn't say a specific brand i can or cannot get. Oh and my grocery stores do not have the stickers that say wic approved on the baby food, just on milk and cheese. It is so frustrating.

I have been buying them, but that is the reason i got put on WIC, i couldn't keep it up. We live on a VERY tight budget, and DH's job is going under. So i got put on wic because we couldn't affort formula and baby food. My youngest eats like a horse 9 cans of formula a month and around 50 cans of baby food a month. I did this so i could save money for bills that we are having trouble paying right now. Oh and I know that they have to be single foods, and no cereal or anything added to them.

Easier said than done for some. That's why WIC is available.

OP--usually, it's Beech Nut 4 oz. jars. They're supposed to switching to Gerber soon though.

ok thank you...maybe i was just getting the wrong size jars. I will try again, and thank you for making me feel a little better about the whole "not being able to afford .50 cent cans of baby food " :)

NP. That fifty cents easily equals 1-2-3 dollars a day...it adds up quickly.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure WIC uses the same vendors throughout the states. BN is the one on checks for baby food. I work at a large retailer and see them everyday..lol
