Contractions 6 Minutes Apart... Vincent'sMommy [3.23] 1 child; Indiana 37 posts
22nd Mar '12

Since midnight. Lost my plug at around 11:45, and the contractions have been regular & strong since. I was hoping they would get closer together by now, but after 6 hours of regular contractions, would you ladies say it's time to go in, or wait it out? I don't want to go in & get sent home. As of Tuesday, I was only dilated to 1cm and 50% effaced.

By the way.... THIS SUCKS!!

Yes it's time to give your doctor a call and head in now. Good luck and easy labor dust! :)

depending on policy of your hospital id stay at home for as long as you can bare the pain.

coz by time you travelled to the hospital then back at home you could end up been very close to delivery and coarse extra un needed pain x

good luck. x

I'd go in just in case but yes, you may be sent home. With my daughter (my 2nd baby) after calling the on call OB at 11:30pm because I had started contracting at 7pm he recommended I go in since it was my 2nd baby & I was having a repeat c-section. While packing for the hospital my contractions got to 4 minutes apart & in the 30 minutes it took us to get to the hospital we found out when we got there that they were then 2 minutes apart but after being checked & finding I was only 1cm & 50% effaced they gave me a series of 3 terbutiline shots to stop labor & sent me home after 6hrs there. I was only 37wks & the on call OB didn't want me delivering that early but of course it never stopped my labor just slowed it down & 24hrs later my contractions were just as close & just as strong. I labored at home that whole night & went back in at 5am the next morning when he finally agreed to do my c-section.

So you won't know unless you go in & get checked but I think that's better than waiting too long at home.

How exciting!!! Remember to breathe through the contractions, try not to tense up. Trust your body. All the best of luck. :)

Id try to stay home as long as possible. I went in too early and they send me home. I had even lost my mucus plug while I was there. they sent me home and a few hours later my water broke and I was on the way back to the hospital.

Well I went in, I was dilated to 3 and 80% effaced. Didn't progress more than that, so they sent me home. A few hours later, I was laying on the couch and felt a gush like my water broke. Went to the bathroom, it was blood. Bright red blood. Went back in, I was at 5 cm and 100%. After about 12 hours, Vincent was here!
