Returned Car seats at Babies R Us I♡C&R. 2 kids; Thornton, CO, United States 25225 posts

So I walked past the display car seat models at Babies R Us tonight and was shocked to find some GOOD seats marked down super cheap, but out of their box and sold "as is". I asked a worker about them and he told me SOME are floor models and some are returns from customers and they're allowed to resell them. I asked if the person "checking" them over was educated on the safety of a seat and accidents and not re-using the seats, etc. I told him customers can lie and return them after an accident or anything and I didn't think it was wise he be selling those seats. Yeah, it's our job to get a good seat for our kid, but SOME PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW and could put their own child in-danger. Okay, maybe it's just me and it's not a reason to be upset, but I'd like other people's opinions on the topic without rude comments, please and thank you :)

ummm....toys r us/babies r us isnt allowed to take back carseats....it doesnt matter if you havent even left the store with it. if youve purchased it, then youre stuck with it.

the computer systems will not let them process them.

Unless you're buying it, I wouldn't concern myself with it. People still buy used carseats from CL, Once Upon a Child, etc. and I'm sure they don't know if there have been accidents or not.

To my knowledge IF they take a carseat back it has to be unopened (as in the customer got the wrong one ect) and it has to go to the wearhouse NOT the store.

I would be more inclined to ask a manager if the associate knew what he was talking about. They actually can't sell a floor model either. That is a fact. If you look at them they have a certain tag on them that says "floor model only not for resale"

They're also not allowed to sell floor models - most floor models are specifically marked that way by the manufacturer.

That being said - they may have been opened or the box damaged.

I don't think BRU should be selling them, but at the same time, I'd rather someone buy any car seat than nothing. I feel the same way about car seats on craigslist. Do you KNOW it's never been in an accident? Of course not. But sometimes all people have to spend is $20, and something is better than nothing.

they will take them back, only if you have every thing that goes with it , that also means all the paper things that go with it. I was told they will take them back because you buy them and like ares don't fit in the car.

Ours takes back used seats. I've done it before (except something broke on mine and that's why it was returned).

I was told I had 90 days to return mine.

They take all used items and give a discount in the store. They also dispose of them properly (especially recalled items).

When I worked at BRU we would return carseats all of the time, with managers approval. However we weren't allowed to put them out on the floor and sell them again.

Yes they can, if the box is still sealed. My SIL returned one when she got duplicates at her shower. It just requires a manager override.

They can sell floor models. We bought two for 34 dollars total. My husband is a manager at TRU. They can sell floor models as long as they are undamaged and not expired.
