STABBING rib pain in right side T-jay_SSW 2 kids; Ontario 263 posts

anyone else get this?!

This is my 2nd pregnancy (my son turns 8 tomorrow, so it's been years in between) and I had NEVER experienced this when preg with him. It feels like my rib is going to pop out the side of my body it hurts so bad!!

I JUST turned 18 weeks today and it's been going crazy OFF/ON all day long, even extending around to the back a bit under my shoulder blade. Feels like a knife being stabbed and twisted under my ribs.

Sounds like a gall bladder attack.

That's where it's been happening, in the car.. I have been driving the majority of the day but the pain ALWAYS occurred in the car and never while up and about.

Im guessing it's not that uncommon then, i really don't think it's my gall bladder though.. Maybe it's just everything stretching?!

ive heard people put tennis balls behind their back where the pain is and leaning on it to alleviate the pain..i never did this but sometimes i'd make a fist and lean on that..so maybe it does help.

i'll make a fist and stick my thumb out and push REALLY hard against it, usually loosens a knot up or something but this is pretty wide spread. Doesn't help that I have scoliosis/ddd/arthritis lol... my back is a mess to begin with.

yeah I get it too. At first my dr said it indigestion but I knew it couldnt be. So she said it is that your bodys stretching there to make room for your bodys organs that baby is moving out of the way and up into your chest. So it hurts cuz ur organs arnt really soposed to be up there all cramed! Lol.... Ur still pretty early tough so u might have a good size baby growing in there!

i had the same pain and i was told it was just my baby growing and things changing well it turns out it was my gall bladder i would get it checked out before it gets as bad as it was for me they almost took my baby at 35 weeks because of it i now have to have two more surgerys after my baby is born i already had one to put a stent in at 35 weeks the stones got stuck and was shutting down my liver and the pain you just discribed is the pain i was having for 3 months and they didnt catch my gall bladder problems until i was in extreme pain for over 24 hours and my liver was almost shut down so dont put it off as the baby is moving or growing pains because gall stones are very common in pregnancy

and i just turned 18 as well and i would of never guessed it being my gall bladder but it is and i was told it was inflamed cartilage, bruced ribs, growing pains and more for three months until the last time i went in and trust me you dont want to wait and believe that its growing pains like i did because thanks to the drs not knowing what it really was it almost cost my baby to be born early and it has cost me three surgeries and months of pain when i first got the pain it only lasted for an hour the first time and every time after that the pain lasted longer until it wouldnt go away and the pain meds they could give me didnt do anything for me so like i said i would go in and they will do an ultra sound on your side to check for gall stones and the reason im so set on it being your gall bladder is because the right side under the ribs is wear your gall bladder is if it was the baby it wouldnt be only on your right side and my pain wrapped all the way to my back

I hated when people told me it was the baby kicking cuz it wasn't when the baby kicked me in the rib I wanted to cry that was an even worse pain cuz I was already in pain!
