Bleeding after sex. CrystalJean07 1 child; Fort Branch, Indiana 98 posts

I 36 weeks pregnant and earlier today my SO and I had sex. Not rough or anything, honestly it didn't even last very long. Afterwards I began bleeding. Heavy bleeding, as if I were on my period. I went to the hospital, they did an ultrasound and everything was perfect with baby. The nurse checked my cervix and said baby's head is super low and I'm already dilated 2cm. I continued to bleed for a few hours, and now when I wipe it just looks like old blood. Also while at the hospital I was hooked up to a contraction monitor and apparently at one point I was having contractions 2 to 4mins apart. I didn't even feel them. I only felt my belly get hard every once in a while. Eventually they sent me home telling me to start timing contractions. If they were 2 to 4mins apart again or feeling strong then to come back. They also said to watch for more bright red blood. I haven't seen any. Anyway, Has an experience like this happened to anyone else? I was sure something was wrong because it was just so much blood! Nurse said the reason was because I was dilated already, and cervical tissue is very sensitive while pregnant. Also still having contractions, not regular, only some hurt, but UGH! I'm nervous!

God, I would be so worried if that happened to me but I'm glad it's nothing serious with the baby or anything. Holy moly. I haven't experienced any bleeding so far that I know of while having sex with my partner. Not even at 39 weeks and 4 days. He's pretty well... endowed hahah. I think that you're just going to be having the baby soon and that maybe when you guys have sex next time, if you have time before baby arrives, to not go so rough or maybe just abstain until after the little one is out? I'd be really nervous myself. Bleeding to me is always related with bad stuff. But I can see what the nurse could mean. That baby is really low and that your cervix is really sensitive right now.

I hope for the best delivery and health of your baby! Hopefully the little one will stay in for another week or so!

I'm going with NO sex until after baby, lol. Thank you for your input and concern! Hoping she'll stay at least another week. Want to make my 37 week mark!

Hahahaha, right! I told my husband no sex but my doctor thinks otherwise. I haven't dilated much more than a finger tip. I'm assuming that it's changed since. I'm already 50% effaced. I really hope she stays in there until your 37th week mark to make her at least full term too! :) Good luck Mama! I'm sure you're anxious to hold your little one in your arms. I sure know I am and I'm 39 weeks and 4 days hahaha. This little guy just doesn't want to come out of his womb paradise!

I Had the same problem! I wasn't as far as you were, but I panicked big time. My doctor told me after an exam that I had a sensitive cervix, and that bleeding was normal. She described it as a delicate price of fruit that keeps getting bumped with something, haha. Everything should be okay. I wouldn't worry.
