How does it work? do they do it immediately after you have the baby? or do they wait a couple of days? please excuse my ignorance on the subject but I'm just starting my research on this matter. Any input, information, personal experiences are greatly appreciated

If it's during a c-section, they do it right during the surgery, I'm not sure if you do it after a vaginal.

I've been wondering this myself.

I just signed the papers for my tubal last week. I'm getting a c-section and right after the baby is out they will do it.

If I hadn't ended up with a c-section the plan was to do it the day after the baby was born.

When I filled the paper work to have it done my dr told me if I have her that morning my tubes would be tied by that evening, and if I had her that evening they would be tied that next morning

that's exactly the information that I had

Unless something goes wrong, I don't foresee having a c-section. But I guess you never know.

Honestly I think it matters on the Doctor.. If you have a C-section it should be done right after delivery.. My friend had her daughter Naturally and had to wait 6 weeks before our doctor would do it.. I am hoping that is not the case because I want my tubes tied after the birth of the baby..
Some doctors will do it within a couple hours of delivery just ask your doctor what his/her policy is..

The procedure I originally signed for was a mini-laparotomy. Everything would have been done through a 1 inch incision right below the belly button.

Yeah, we haven't had this convo with my OB yet, but I do want to learn about it and kinda get a feel of what it entails, I do plan on asking him soon.

You are due the day after me.. I also plan on talking to my doctor and I am hoping that if I have the baby vaginally I do not have to wait 6 weeks like my friend did.. Actually after my last daughter (15years ago) I was suppose to have my tubes tied immediately following delivery but they did not have an operating room open.. My husband at the time told me he would get fixed because I went through heck having her.. The next morning the dr came in and was going to do the procedure then but I had a banana for breakfast ughh LOL.. well needless to say I went through a divorce and I am now remarried and expecting a miracle baby at the age of 40.. the baby is a blessing but I am scared..
