I was just wondering if someone can give me a little info on what it means when the doc says that the cervix is long and soft? He didn't mention any effacement and said I prob wont go into labor anytime this week. It's so nerve-racking! Thanks!!!
An "unripe" cervix is firm feeling, like the tip of your nose... when it gets ready to dilate and efface, it softens, making that possible. As the baby's head puts pressure on the soft cervix, it is able to thin out and begin to open in preparation for labor. So if your cervix, is soft, it just means that is it getting closer to opening! :)
