Are you joking me? Suspending him is outrageous. Calling his parents is one thing and letting him know what he is singing is questionable.. but suspending a 6 year old? He doesn't know what he's singing.

He knew. He was in trouble previously for singing the same song to the same girl and she complained to a teacher about it.

And why in the world would a 6 yr old know the lyrics to that song?

I read an article about that and I think it's stupid. The little boy probably didn't even realize exactly what it meant, they should have called his parents about it and then let it go.

Quoting Mr & Mrs + 3:" Near my home town a 6 year old boy was suspended from school for 3 day. The reason was sexual harrasment. ... [snip!] ... shoul not have suspended him... they should have sat him down and explained what that song wasn't appropriate for school!!! "

This has been debated on here ones before. I believe other facts include he'd previously been in the principals office for singing this same song to this same girl before. Also, he was shaking his butt near her face while singing it.

Not saying it was right, just trying to put ALL the facts out there.

It depends on context. I wasn't there. But in general it sounds like they are overreacting.

he got in trouble previously for singing that same song to the saem student. i think he knew it was wrong. not sexual harassment of course, but he knew he shouldn't be doing it. i don't even think he should of been suspended over the fact. maybe a detention.

Well, I think it's pretty hard NOT to know the song...And there's so many versions of it. (Including, "I'm Elmo and I Know It". I don't think he should have been suspended. I think that at the very most, a parent teacher meeting should have been had. Kids that age don't understand Why. Why can't I sing that very catchy song that all the big kids know? A detailed explanation with parents present would have been better. And that is not sexual harassment, that's a little boy proclaiming that he's good looking and he knows it. At least in his mind...Man, when I was in school, I would have been told that it was just a annoying boy who really liked you, not a sexual predator!

my 5 year old knows some of the lyrics to that song. i don't care for her walking around saying she's sexy and she knows it...so i have her say she's pretty and she knows it. lol

My six year old SS knows a lot of songs that I don't know, and has probably heard that song.

Anyways, suspending a 6 year old is ridiculous, and charging him with sexual harassment is stupid.

1st 'offense'= sit down with parents and explain that it is unappropriate. If he was suspended for it being the first time I'd think it was overreacting.
2nd offense= discipline by forms of detention or something like that. If he and the parents were explained that further behavior of the sort would not be tolerated and could result in suspension, then I think it would be justified.

So lets compare it. Say you work with me, and I start singing "I'm too sexy for my shirt" as a joke and then you ask me to stop and I start shaking my tits in your face, in front of a bunch of people, humiliating you. I am given a verbal by our supervisor. Then I do it again, and get a writeup. You have expressed to me on several occasions that this makes you uncomfortable and have gotten extremely angry when I have done this.

Then I do it again and you raise hell and I get suspended from work or fired.

Then it hits the news and everyone is like "Woman is fired for singing "I'm to sexy for my shirt" to another employee at her job"

That headline sounds ridiculous, but the situation probably wasn't ridiculous to you.

The difference, however, is that it is in adult, who knows what sexy is and has a little bit more understanding of the lyrics. The kid is six, he has NO idea what he's singing about. At least, I would hope not.
