Okay, so this is a bit odd, but I was tols the way birth control works, is by "tricking" the body into thinking you're pregnant. Would this cause a mucus plug to form?

Do you get a mucus plug when NOT pregnant?

I'm on Implanon, and I do not get periods (until now, for some reason I have one this month), and haven't had one for 6 years. Usually, once a month, or every other month, I have what looks like mucus. Is this normal..?

That's kind of embarrassing to say. hehe

Yes, cervical mucus is very normal. An excess of egg white like mucus is normally a sign that ovulation is close.
I really wish that this kind of stuff was taught better. Seems like the closest we get in health class is a period talk. If you want to know more about the female reproductive cycle, I highly recommend the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It goes in depth about not only fertility (obviously) but lays out how everything works.

Yes, they really should teach more! I felt silly for asking, but I knew one of you lovely ladies would likely have the answer. I tried to google it, but didn't know how to go about wording my search and was coming up empty handed. I may purchase that book this afternoon! :)

Yes, normal as long as it's not weird colored or has an odor. Birth control causes your cervical discharge to thicken, which helps well.. control birth lol.

Nope, no odor or funky colors.
I just couldn't remember if I got the discharge pre-BC because it has been so long and I never really paid much attention until the past year.
