Quoting Atticus & Rhys's Mommy:" I had an abortion over 13 weeks and they completely knocked me out for it. I couldn't imagine having ... [snip!] ... hospital. I had some bleeding and cramping afterwords but it wasn't that bad. I wish you luck and peace with your decision."

Sorry to ask, but why are you having an abortion?

I didn't have one at PP but it was an awake surgical one. I was given Motrin and Valium an hour before hand. It wasn't exactly pleasant but it wasn't excruciatingly painful either.

Quoting Puff the Magic Dragon!:" As was I, grateful if not anything else. It's nerve racking. It's hard to find people who will not judge ... [snip!] ... It's especially hard, when you have a partner who cannot be with you, during the procedure, to take the place of that nurse."

Agreed, with all of this.

I had one and everyone at pp were very nice, I didn't feel anything until the Meds wore off afterward but it was just cramping. Hope you have a fast recovery :)

Mine wasnt at PP I had a D&E at a local hospital. I was put completely under and I remember being in pain the first day or so then it felt like period cramping for a couple days after.

You'll be ok :) I wish you a speedy recovery.

Oh really? I didn't know that. I was young 18....and honestly didn't know how far along I was......all I know if it was over 13 weeks they knocked you out for it. I'm glad they did, don't think I could have handled being awake I already felt like shit enough.

Quoting Nathaniel&Jaxson's Mommy!:" Please no negitive comments Are there any women on here that had a surgical abortion at planned parenthood? I'm terrified of the pain.. i heard your wide awake. what all happens?"

My cousin did. She said they had given her something for her nerves, and it was really uncomfortable (it was years ago, though).

I'm sure you have went over this and over this and over this, but I do want to prepare you. I know my cousin and two friends that have had abortions. It affected all of them very badly emotionally, and they never got over it, still dealing with it. All three was from preferred choice, not necessity for any reason, they just didn't want the baby. (I don't know your situation).

I don't know if you have made these arrangements, but based on all the women I know that have had abortions, I would recommend setting up an appointment with a therapist. These decisions were because they said they wanted it more than anything....had thought long and hard, and wanted it 100%....and they responded pooly to the emotional aspect of it. I hope I am not overstepping, I am just giving advise based on what my friends have experienced.

I'm sure that you have went through this decision over and over, but adoption is not an option? Or is it similar to what my friends experienced...it was just preference?
