You can't really try to talk someone out of the decision they've already made. It can come across as rude and judgemental. Regardless of your stance on abortion, you have to assume the OPs in AS have thought through all of their options and chosen the absolutely best one for them.

I wasn't and I am not against abortion in any way. I went with my best friend when she wanted hers. Did not try to talk her out of hers. I watched it destroy all three of them emotionally, and I was trying to as tactfully as I could encourage therapy after the abortion because of my personal experience with what it did to some people that I love. I apologize to OP if it came off that I was trying to talk her out of it, or that it was a bad decision or the wrong decision. All I was trying to say is to see a therapist BEFORE it becomes an issue as it did with those that I know. I truly am sorry if it came off any other way. Adoption is just an afterthought. I didn't realize that it would be taken as attempting to talk her out of it or that I was against the decision in general.

OP: Good luck, and I sincerely apologize if my comment was not written the way it was coming out in my head. Good luck. And as I said, from what I know, it's just a little uncomfortable, but not painful at all (in reference to the original question)

She even asked for no bad comments or judgements... it is her choice regardless of why. The fact that she came to us because she has worries, should tell you to just be supportive and say positive things to help her not be freaked out. You are strong hun... you will be just fine and we are all here tomorrow as well if you need us!

yeah they gave me some shots of lidocane (sp) that was it, I was awake, and the lidocane barely took the edge off, no pain meds afterward or anything. It only took a few minutes, I think I squeezed the hell out of the nurses hand..

i am coming in at the tail end of this convo but don't regret your decision to not carry it through. If you choose adoption your baby will thank you one day for giving him life. If you choose to keep him trust that you can do it. Do what you feel is best for you and that precious baby.

Best of luck! I think adoption is the better choice if you can manage it.
