Baby measuring a bit small at 28 weeks. Jasmine Miles Due August 7 (girl); Gilbert, Arizona 8 posts

I'm 28 weeks and 1 day and just had an u/s today to measure baby's growth. Everything is great and looking good except she is measuring 26w6days and I'm 28w1day. I had this same issue at about 20w and went to the perinatologist. After a lonnng u/s, the doctor said not a thing to worry about, just a small baby. Now, even though my doc isn't concerned, she's sending me to the perinatologist again just to be safe. I was a tiny baby (still am small) and my fiance was barely 6lbs and saome change. I'm sure it's just in her genes to be small, but it would be awesome to hear from some other moms/mommies-to-be. :)

My son measured two weeks small the entire time, to where they even changed my due date and said that they just had it wrong. It worried me but didn't seem to worry them. My due date was November 4th 2010 and they changed it to November 14th 2010.. It bothered me because I knew when I had got pregnant with him and I didn't want him in there to long. They induced me on the 9th and he measured outside of the womb 40wks and 5days gestation. They said sometimes the ultrasounds are just wrong. Don't worry momma! But stick to YOUR gut!

My son measured almost 2 weeks small the entire time. And he's still small for his age. No problems though :)

With this pregnancy I've been measuring small. Last time I was 3 weeks behind and the time before that I was 4 weeks behind. They did an ultrasound and found everything was fine. I guess my daughter will be small in stature.

I measured a week small the entire second half of my pregnancy and they kept doing ultrasounds to check up on things. Every ultrasound was normal and they said she would prolly just be a small baby. She was born the day after her due date 7 lbs 6 ozs 21 inches long. So I wouldn't worry too much. [=

I'm 14 Weeks 1 day measuring 13 Weeks 4 days. Today I had my second ultrasound measuring small. I had one at 8 Weeks and measure 6 Weeks. I would not worry though. I'm sure everything is fine.

My MIL was told her dates were out by 3 weeks with my SIL and when she had her, she was right with hger dates. I think she was just under 6 pound.
My mother had 6 kids the smallest was just on 6 pound and the heaviest was barely 7 pound.
With my own experiance (My eldest was IUGR) I start worrying if there is a change in their growth rate. I'm 34 weeks and measuring 32 weeks, but my bubs growth rate is on target. With my eldest there were dramatic changes in his growth rate!

Good luck

There are a couple of things to remember about those ultrasounds. They can be off by as much as 2lbs (and have been off for me with 2 of my pregnancies) and 28 weeks is just an estimate. Babies can be a little ahead or a little behind. As long as growth is consistent (which it sounds like it is) and as long as the fluid levels are stable, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I get U/S's every 2 weeks during pregnancy anyway. My middle baby was measuring a few days behind the whole pregnancy until about 30 weeks. Then he started dropping off of the growth scale. By the time they induced me at 37 weeks, they thought he was going to be around 4lbs when he was born. He was 6lbs 7oz. Not huge, but certainly not IUGR (intra uterine growth restriction, SGA = small for gestational age)

My next baby was right on target the entire pregnancy. They estimated him to be around 7lbs at 38 weeks. He was 10lbs 5oz. :) We were all very surprised.

I know it's easy for me to say because I don't have to be the one freaking out about your baby, but I've been there and if i could tell myself to just take a deep breath and not worry so much, I would. :)

it's really helpful to read all of these! Especially this one. I feel like all this technology just makes people look at every liitle thing, when my mom didn't even have an u/s for my brother and sister. And only one for me! And 19 years later, we have 3D/4D u/s that they order for even the slightest issues. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have, but it ends up making me worry more at times! It seems like a lot of them are off at times and the thing I don't get about this whole "measuring big/small" thing is that every baby is different bc every baby has different genetics. I'm still only 5'3 and 110 b4 pregnancy. I'm guessing she's just little! And yes, fluids were great as well as heartbeat and she kicks very regularly! Thank you :)
