Swelling that stays indented when you push on it glowinthedark 2 kids; Norway 29301 posts

I can't remember what this means. I am on watch for pre-e right now, on bed rest. My feet, ankles, and calves are really swollen. I have fluid pockets on my ankles and when I push on them they stay indented for a little bit before returning to normal.

I'm 37 weeks today

I would call just in case. My ankles do that and I'm being induced Tuesday for pre e

I had that throughout my entire pregnancy with Avagail. Freaked me the FUCK out when I first noticed it. But the doctor wasn't worried. But with the pre-e watch, I'd call up and ask just to make sure.

Hope everything's okay love. <3

It means you're really swollen thats all. I know it sound dumb but try drinking water and KEEP your legs UP to get rid of that retention.

Quoting Just Ames:" I had that all through my pregnancy and already with this one  I thought swelling/fluid retention was normal in pregnancy (to a certain degree of course). You should call it in just in case."

It's normal to swell but I don't think the indentation is normal, last time I was being monitored for pre-e at L&D they kept checking to make sure my swelling didn't indent.

It's called pitting edema and it really isn't normal. I would call your doc and let them know soon.

I had that for weeks. I thought it was kinda cool, and a neat way to gross out my Mom. "Hey, check this out!" It horrified her! I thought it was a normal result of my feet being so swollen, didn't know it had a name till my Dr told me. But after my hospital stay and basically laying down for two days straight the swelling went down and I lost my new feet "toy" Hasn't came back since, but then I've been on light bed rest and my feet/ankles are the least swollen they've been since about march. I could actually get into a pair of tennis shoes...... if I was allowed to leave the house. lol
Hope everything goes ok. Let us know what happens!

Thank you! My swelling has been pretty much gone for the last 2 weeks until yesterday when it came back. :? I have been cheating on bed rest too much, I admit that.

With the things I know you're dealing with already, I'd be calling in to whoever about this. It may not be anything but like Sherrie said, it could be things worsening. Keep us updated on this!!

The thing is the on call OB kinda sucks and just says go in to everything, bleh. I took a bath and I have my feet propped above my heart level while laying on my side (so comfortable, lol). The bath helped a lot, but my mom made me promise to call L&D at 8 if anything changes.

I was like that with Lilly and that's why I was induced. Just drink lots of water, stay off your feet, and keep them up (how terrible right> lol) Then call on Tuesday, if nothing has changed, since you don't like the on call doctor.

Did you have full blown pre-e with her? I can't remember.

No, not that I know of. It was never mentioned to me. My bp was a little higher every appointment, then with the swelling (I gained 5 lbs in less than a week), he decided I needed induced but I was 38.5 weeks when we decided.

How are you feeling today?
