Ohio: EBT Benefits question. B00Bzilla 1 child; Defiance, Ohio 782 posts

I plan on going back to school to become an RN in the fall. My question is: Because I also plan on quitting my job to make time for family and school, will that mean I won't be eligible for benefits anymore? I ask because someone mentioned to me that someone told her you have to work so much to receive benefits. Is that true? Does anyone know?

TIA.

If you are a full-time student in Ohio you will still receive your benefits.

There is no reason to quit your job! Plent of women go to school and work while they care for their families. Assistance isn't for people who don't want to work!! You are an able bodied person and should keep your job!!!

If I try to do school and work I would never be home with my son. It's a mutual decision I made with my fiance that I should quit. Being with my son while going to school to get a better job is more important to me than keeping the one I have. It's not that I don't want to work. I've held a job since I was 15 years old. But if I had to choose my son and going to school to better provide for him come first. The way I see it, I have paid my taxes for the last five years and when I graduate and get a better job I will be paying taxes the rest of my life. I feel that will make up for the 2 years or less that it will take me to finish my schooling.

i quit my job, cause i couldnt afford day care for my daughter, my grandmaw came down with cancer, so my mom was all the time with her taking care of her, the only person i had that could watch my daughter was my husbands mom, she lived 30 minutes away. i worked almost every day (and not making crap, i spent my whole check on gas taking her back and forth to my hubbys moms), and sometimes she would have to stay the night so it would save me gas (she sometimes stayed 2-3 nights a week, she was also only 3 months old and i only got paid every 2 weeks) and i couldnt take being away from her all the time i was away from her missing everything and all her first. so i quit, i told Food stamps i quit and why i quit, and my place of employment told them the same thing, and i still got my benefits. i also live in alabama.

It is NOT a right! If you can't pay your bills without a job you have no business quitting your job. Mutual decision or not. Your "fiance" needs to be able to pick up the difference in $$$ IF you are going to quit your job.

Assistance is to help people who are down on their luck. You are intentionally abusing the system and you should be ashamed that you are even considering using it as a source of income.

Does this sound familiar???

I'm officially going to go back to school in the fall!!!! I'm sooooooooooooooo excited I'm also going to quit my job since we can afford it with our current situation. I'm just so happy. I'll get to spend more time with my LO and SO and hopefully, two years from now I'll be graduating and become a Registered Nurse!! We'll be able to get a house and we'll be thinking about baby number two in 3 or 4 years from now. I'm just so happy that things are working out so well right now
I'm registering for classes on Tuesday and last Thursday I took a COMPASS test and got such high scores I was exempted from several classes and get to move to higher classes right away instead of going through the lower ones first <3
I can only hope for this kind of good fortune for everyone

She said she would be quitting her job because with their current situation they could "afford it". I guess her situation is to jump on assistance.

First off, I am NOT abusing the system. My FIANCE got very sick for almost a year and I worked two jobs to support us both until my second trimester when I had to drop down to one. He is physically disabled and has lingering medical problems that prevent him from being able to get a job. He doesn't qualify for diability because we have too much money in our savings. We'll be able to use that savings to support our other needs such as rent, car insurance, gas, baby supplies, etc. Don't come at me telling me I should be ashamed of myself. I work my ass off for my family and I always have. I've done everything for myself since I was 15 and I'm proud of it. I'm not trying to get it as a "source of income" We get food assistance and medicaid. Does anyone pay my bills for me? Fuck no. I'm trying to do better for my son by furthering my education to be able to support him and all of my future children. I AM NOT ASHAMED OF TRYING TO BE THE BEST MOTHER I CAN BE.

I'm not trying to live off of it for the rest of my life. I'm trying to get better so I can GET THE FUCK OFF OF IT. So why don't you chill your tits.

You should be ashamed. Nothing more, nothing less. You don't "quit" your job to get assistance because you chose not to work thru school.

Also, to get your RN you will be in school longer than 2 years. Especially if you go for your BSN.

Do you know how many SINGLE mothers work their asses off to get thru school and hold jobs just for a better life for their kids? Run a poll here on BG. Hell, I will do it for you!

Perfect, quit working so you can get more assistance!!!!
