I had to go into l&d again last night because I had started bleeding. I was having pretty strong contractions every 7-10 minutes but they weren't changing my cervix. they told me I could go home, after 2 hours and told me to take a bath, lay down, and keep timing my contractions. they gave me some hydroxyzine pamoate to help me sleep but I didn't take it last night because I was afraid I was going into labor.
my contractions stopped around 4 this morning and I haven't had any sleep. do you think it'll be okay to take those pills tonight to help me sleep? Anyone ever take those? Did it have a strong sedative reaction?
I've never heard of it but if they gave it to you at L&D then it's probably safe and I personally would feel confident taking it to help me sleep if I needed it
you can always cut it in half if it makes you nervous, or call your OB and ask him what kind of side effects it could have on you

They're capsules. they gave me 2 and said to take them both and that they would make me drowsy. I'm just curious as to how drowsy, kwim?
Hydroxyzine is the generic name for atarax it is typically an anti anxiety med but unlike normal anxiety meds it's not a benzo so perfectly safe to take they give it for other reasons as well obviously and it will definitely make you sleep. It knocks me right out and I sleep hard on it
I have those for anxiety. It's just an antihistamine, kind of like benadryl, it's not a narcotic or anything. It'll just make you sleepy, but it kind of makes me loopy when it starts to kick in. Nothing major, and it really should be safe :)
