How do you deal with it? Most people have problems with mother in laws but mine is with my mom? Any ideas on how to not let this bug me? Sorry for it being so long!!

thats not very long actually lol.

My mom thinks she is the worlds best parent becuase my daughter is obsessed with her. But its actually becasue my mom is incapable of saying no and thinks you can "negotiate" with toddlers and preschoolers. WRONG. All it does is make me look like the bad guy for sticking to my guns about limits. Very annoying.

I agree with your mom. Non violent communication means communicating rather than just talking at someone and negotiation is an important principle. It means articulating your needs and responding without accusation or blame and understanding both view points. It accepts that we all have ultimately the same basic needs and there can be mutual compassion in reaching them. Negotiation does not mean that one person wins and one losses. It's not a power struggle or setting a limit that only takes into account one persons needs. Negotiation means working together for the benefit of both people. It encourages free thinking and is centered on respect and compassion, which ideally is what most people would like to model and teach their children. So they can grow up understanding their needs and knowing how to effectively communicate and get what they want respectfully, whilst also not causing others to have unmet needs. Sticking to your guns is generally inflexible and causes power struggles, does not respect or even consider the other persons needs behind their want and is generally the opposite of all the positive benefits of NVCC.

Wana swap moms? i think you'd like mine, and i'd get along with yours
