What is your take on donor insemination? i am 42 so old fashion but i just wonder why people do not want to be in love and know someone when they bring a baby into the world i just got remarried and am madly in love i have a 20 yr old daughter

i wanted another baby but waited because i had not found true love i am now married to a man 14 yrs my junior and am now trying to conceive =]

what do you ladies think of women using donors [strange men] to get pregnant?

i know i am old fashion but am i the only person who thinks signing up to be a single mom is crazy and getting pregnant by someone you do not know and do not know their family history is crazy?

also does a mom have a right to birth a child who will not have a father?

not meaning to offend any of you young ladies just want to see others perceptions of things

TIA

If they can support themselves and their child(ren) and don't mind being a single parent, then go for it. I see nothing wrong with it.

Nothing wrong with it IMO. If someone wants a child and can afford to then they should be able to.

Some women cannot find a man they want to be with/are compatible with so why should that stop them from wanting to be a mom? I see no problem with it.

Whatever floats someone's boat. If I were pushing 40 and hadn't found someone I'd want to have kids with I would do it. I think if a woman is able to support herself and the child it's a perfectly reasonable step. I think it's fine to birth a child without a father, perhaps not ideal but people make it work.

Some women use it for male fertility issues. Also lesbian couples use it for AI.

I think it's a great option!

I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. Some people want children of their own but are not fortunate enough to find that right person. Some lesbian couples or single women want the same but obviously there is no man in their life so they can go about it this way. Sometimes women have medical conditions which may prevent them from becoming pregnant later on so they do this, because this may be their only chance to have their own child. Sometimes a woman might be madly in love with her SO or husband, but he may have fertility issues. So they might decide on a donor if he is unable to get her pregnant. No matter what the situation, If a woman wants a baby and feels she is ready then she should be able to have that baby. The baby not having a father in it's life is irrelevant. Many women get pregnant and then the father bails and they have to do it alone. Or sometimes unfortunately the father passes away leaving the mother to raise the child alone. Being a single mom is hard yes, but it's not the end of the world. It's a woman's right, as it is anyone's right, to have a child if that is their wish and they feel they are ready. Sometimes people have children unexpectantly too, not every child is planned. You can have children out of wedlock too, nothing wrong with that.

Sorry about the slightly longer response but this is my opinion for the previous questions:
Personally I believe that there are a lot of women now a days that are more focused on getting a great education/career then settling down at a youngish age. Sometimes they are so focused on getting to a certain point in their lives where they are financially and emotionally stable that they are not focusing on finding a spouse. With this happening most the the men that would have been potential fathers/husbands are already married.
If they cant find a spouse by a certain age they start to consider getting a donor so there is less of a risk of birth/pregnancy/health issues due to age.
I believe that when the men go in to donate sperm they do question them about their family history.
Asking if the woman has a right to have a child without a father figure around is like asking if fathers have a right to walk away from the women that they get pregnant IMO. Just because there isn't a father figure around now doesn't meant that there never will be. I think that the most important part is that the woman has a strong support system(family, friends, etc.)

Maybe they know they won't be able to get pregnant later on. Maybe they would just rather become a parent young rather than waiting until they are older and it may be high risk. Age does not define you as a parent. You can be young and be an amazing mother or a crappy mother, same goes for being older. The woman defines how she will be as a mother, not her age.

Some women have medical issues where they will have to get their uterus removed in the future so they decide to have a child before that happens. Personally I think that it is to the woman's discretion and I don't think that people have the right to judge her as long as she is mature and responsible to deal with it.

maybe a younger woman doesn't want to wait around for Mr Right to come along to have babies with. If they're ready and able to now, but they just don't have a male partner, what's wrong with getting a sperm donor to take care of it?
