Yeah the two i got are PUL.

With the fleece ones, do they only come in sized?

Its summer here.. would fleece/wool be too hot?

They are both pretty breathable materials, believe it or not

I'd just put the diapers without the inserts through a couple hot washes & a couple rinses. The diaper may still have leftover soap from when she washed them. Also if she has a HE washer she'll need to do extra rinses or she'll have residue too. It sounds like the diaper just needs to be rinsed thoroughly or soaked for a little while

What is it with HE washing machines/why do you need the extra rinses with those compared to old school machines?..

If you can set the water level & put it on 'heavily soiled' will it do ok washing or do you still need extra rinses?

If you can set your water level then you should be fine. A lot of them though don't have the setting for anything but an extra rinse. My roommates HE washer looks like it barely gets the clothes wet well. Its an LG with only the extra rinse setting. HE washers don't use near as much water as the old school top loaders do & CDs need thorough rinsing/washing to get clean. Buildup is apparently a common issue with HE washers that don't use much water but if you can set your water level then that's great

I am moving into a 1 bedroom apartment that has no washer & dryer hookups so I am going to be looking into buying a portable top loading washer & a mini dryer haha :)

I set mine on heavy soiled and extra rinse. Once a week or so I'll do a bunch of extra rinses just in case it's getting build up. (washing daily).

Random question, if my dipes smell like fresh clean laundry ( i use ecos ftee and clear so it really has no smell) is that coming from washer buildup or the dryer? I'm still trying to find tto so I can strip the washer.

I am so happy I'm not the only one who had problems with an HE lol... I actually just had to throw a clean towel in with the diapers so that it was heavier and more water went in... It sucked until I figured that out...

Moses suggested doing a pre rinse with no spin to weigh it down. Have u tried that? That's what I have been doing.

I always do a pre rinse, hot wash with cold rinse, extra rinse. Every wash like that. I wish I didn't have to buy an HE. lol
