Alright, so I want to get my newborn stash started. I know I'll need about 24. What did you ladies do for your newborns?

I really don't want to spend too much money on diapers that he/she will be in for just a little while.

I was thinking either a diaper trial or getting all Alvababy's, but I'm not sure if the latter would be a great idea.. they're cheap, but unsure about quality.

Im just going to do prefolds/boingo/snappi with a cover over for when we have a NB.. i'll add a fleece liner so it stays dry against bubs skin too. - also a cheap option which is good since they grow so fast!

Alvas arent consistent in sizing and can be hard to stuff from what i've heard.

ETA:
Knowing me i'll probably go nuts & buy tons of cute fitteds etc too LOL!

I got all alva newborns, I only got about ten though since1I knew my baby would be over 9 pounds and not in them long, 2 I was washing and 3 I'm cheap as shit. And broke as shit too.

As someone else said, sizing is really inconsistent, not really in the waistor rise but in the width of the crotch. They've done the job just fine for us though my babe is 7 weeks and he's almost out of them at 12.5 pounds

Are u planning on washing daily? If so 24 NB is overkill IMO. I had about 15 and wash daily. My LO is 8 lbs now and I can get her in OS. They look huge but they work. Now I discovered flats and kinda wish I'd have just used those NB with a cover.

Lmao!! Scarlytt did that too. I fed her around midnight and she didn't wake up for a long time and my one b**b was so hard that she didn't use the previous feeding. She almost wasn't able to latch haha

I recommend flats or prefolds if you want to go cheap.

:D I was interested the first time I saw u used them. So I went searching for blankets and found only 4 and put them aside. I forgot about them til the other day haha! Then I went through a container of blankets and pulled out 10 more haha. If I knew I had so many id totally not have bought so many NBs.

Do regular sized receiving blankets fit violet? I feel like some of mine may not fit very long. When u buy them how do u know if they're bigger?

I have some that were 25x25 when I bought them (it usually says somewhere on the package or tag in small print) and they shrank to like 23 x23. They no longer fit, so I cut them up and am making inserts out of them. I have some that were 28x28/29x29 that are around 25x25 that still fit but are almost too small, so I am also cutting them up to make inserts lol. My FAVORITE are the Gerber and Garanimal ones. They're 30x30 and are giant and awesome. They're the only ones that the serging hasn't come unraveled, or gotten messed up. And they're perfectly square, unlike the other ones which tend to get shaped funny.

Are those at Walmart? So as she gets bigger look for high twentys to thirty inches? I'd say most of these are prolly 24ish. I have a few bigger. I hate the rectangle ones though. I like things to all line up nice haha. I'm a symmetrical person

I meant to say daily lol now that Beckham is wearing some OS, I wash every other day which is 24 with all three of mine lol. I'm in the process of replacing Beckhams newborn diapers with his own OS .
