Quoting Jace's Momma.:" Jace's newborn alvas keep leaking out the leg. Ugh. I just changed a poop coming out of the leg diaper. ... [snip!] ... Also, do yall think liners are worth the extra cost? I mean, I don't mind scraping poop off but it'd be nice not to have to."

Liners are 110% worth it IMO

Im in heaven not having to dangle/flush & then scrub poopie diapers. (consistency of pasty/runny peanut butter... ick!)

Just take the liner out, toss it & rinse the wet diaper quick, put it in the pail.

So much easier & less messy.

I'm really beginning to think Rory may just be allergic to cloth. I'm going to try and strip soon but until then he's in disposables. 2 days in cloth and already red butt city.

You might need to strip or strip then change wash routine. I've been thinking about his red butt problem today lol trying to figure out what it could be

What material are your diapers made up? Suedecloth? He might just be allergic to that.

Alvas are suede cloth. Do you have any prefolds or flats or anything? You could try putting him in those when his redness clears up and see if he has the same reaction.

I don't know what I could really improve.. I rinse well before washing, then rinse through a full wash, then hot was with 2 tablespoons of detergent, rinse 3x with hot, and add vinegar to at least 1 rinse. Then dry.

Nah we don't. We have prefolds from my aunt's old service but they're rags. I'm getting some viscose liners though, when they come would that help?

So I'm getting knocked down a bit from my soap box...

I have some custom Alvas coming from a coop that I don't think I'm going to like... They're Velcro double gussets... Now that I've used the Velcro newborn, I don't think I want Velcro on a OS...

I preferred Velcro for the newborn diapers because it's harder to get the right fit with snaps and we were often between snaps... But I have a feeling I'm not going to like them... I originally got them for DH, but I think I'll probably just try to sell and get my money back...

Would you be opposed to borrowing some fleece lined diapers and testing out if it's maybe a material sensitivity? I could send you about 10 to borrow and you could just send them back when you've found they help or not.

If you don't want to keep them, let me know. I like the DG velcro ones. You may too, they aren't like the regular velcro on the newborns

I seriously do not mind at all. My diapers are literally sitting unused.
