So, im 18 years old and 12wks pregnant with my first child. I have heard that breats feeding is very healthy for your baby. But i have also heard that formula feeding is a lot healthier and that breast fed babies get more diseases and everything. i would prefer to breast feed.... just not if it is going to make my baby unhealthy. advice?

Thats actually the opposite. I mean not all formula fed babies are unhealthy or sick but breast fed babies have a better chance at fighting off illnesses because the breast milk has the nutrients and antibodies babies need.

Your saying that back wards. Actually babys who breast feed have LESS allergies and get sick less often, because of something called colostrum. If you also read any formula pack it says "breast feeding is the best thing for a new baby"

Breast milk is full of antibodies that help fight illness and infection. It is very very healthy for babies. Formula is an alternative but doesnt offer the natural antibodies that a mothers milk has.

WTF have you been reading/hearing?!?! BF babies are atcually sick less because they get your immunities, and much healthier. There is stuff in bm that can just never be replicated in formula. Bfing is the way to go. Plus its free!

Woah. Easily put: your breast milk is the absolute best thing you can feed your child. Period. There is nothing wrong with formula- however- nothing beast breast milk.

I tried to BF and she wouldnt latched- i pumped myself dry for 2 months and then formula fed. I am not biased to either side.

no formula is not healthier. all formula says right on their bottles and packets that breastfeeding is recommended by pedis.

ETA: breast milk is specially made for your baby.

Somebody is feeding you a load of crap.

Breastfeeding is healthier than formula. They don't even compare as far as that goes. Breastfeeding supports the immune system, leading to healthier babies.

www.Kellymom.com is a great place to find out information on the benefits of breastfeeding.

Formula is an alternative when breastfeeding cannot happen. Breastfeeding is the ideal infant food.

For real, it is tailored just for your baby, whereas formula is made for any baby.

I have never heard anyone say formula is better for your baby O.o Breast milk is made just for human babies... Formula is a good alternative if you can't breast feed for some reason but breast milk is better.

A very long time ago (when my Nan had my Mum) they thought formula milk was best, but now its known that breast milk is best. Its the best way for your baby to get the immunities and antibodies they need early on. And is made for your baby only.
However, you wouldnt be damaging your baby by using formula milk.
I breast fed & am glad I did, friends bottle fed and their kids are equally as healthy.

this is the problem.. misinformation. Ever read ingredients on a can of formula? milk solids? solidified vegetable oil..a bunch of chemicals you can't pronounce.
Formula is just more convenient for people, how can something that is produced naturally be worse for a baby? thats what b**bs were made for..thats why we leak milk after baby is born, do you see any other animal in the world using formula to feed their babies?

where on earth did you hear that about breastfeeding? whoever told you that needs a big fat slap across the face! they couldnt be more wrong! breastfeeding has many antibodies and is the best for baby if you can do it.
