A friend of the family suffered the tragic loss of her daughter this week to drowning. She was only 19 months old, 2 months younger than my youngest son. My oldest son is taking it pretty hard. After the funeral today he made the comment to me " Mamma, I almost understand adults passing. Even teens. But I just can't understand babies" I just was about speechless. He knows it was an accident. They were visiting at a family members home and the pool gate didn't catch.
I just don't know how to easy his pain.
No negative comments please.

oh hun that's a tough one. I would keep reminding him that it was a terrible accident and that sometimes, bad things happed, when they shouldn't. If you are religious, maybe it might help him to think of her as an angel watching over you guys now?

I'm confused, you're 17 year old is having the hard time?

Maybe have him read a book on how to cope with grief?

I am he's not really. But he's got 2 grandmothers that have past with in the last 2 years and I had made the comment at the funeral that she had 2 wonderful angels playing and watching over with her right now. And he agreed

Maybe take him to grief therapy, my best friends little sister died 3 months ago from a brain injury and since they have started grief therapy they have been so much better with dealing with it.

That might end up a possibility. He's lost 2 of his grandmothers with in the last 1 sudden, 1 lost her battle to cancer now this. He never handled their loss very well and to have another sudden loss thrown at him. Outward he seems well but his actions are speaking very loud....
