Toothache during labor? M@rley Due August 14 (boy); Florida 5 posts

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and for weeks now I've had this horrible toothache... I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and I've got two cavities right next to each other and right behind it, the vary last tooth in my mouth is like broken in half. The guy was kinda a douche and was like lookin at me like why are you even here? He told me that the broken tooth is all curved at the root and would need to be surgically removed and there was nothing he could do for me until after I have the baby. He wouldn't even fill my cavities despite the letter of approval from my birthing center. So now I'm stuck with this pain until After i have the baby. Tylonal doesn't even work anymore. So I'm pretty concerned about my teeth acting up wile I'm in labor. I'm having a natural water birth and I handle pain vary well but when it comes to my teeth its a whole different story. Do you think the pain of labor itself will keep me from even thinking about my teeth? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how to deal with this toothache up until I go into labor? At this vary moment I'm losing sleep over it -_- It Hurts the worst when I lay down at night. God I hope someone has some amazing advise!

I don't have any advice in the meantime, but I'm fairly certain that labor will be a good enough distraction and you won't be thinking about your teeth.

Or maybe you will be glad that something else hurts to distract you from labor.

Good luck mama, sorry he wouldn't listen. Could you try another dentist?

Have you tried Orajel? Also the pain from labor is intense im thinking you wont even be thinking about your toothache but everyone handles it differently.

Look this up or ask your doctor before you do this bevause I don't know if you can while pregnant (though I don't reallt see why not) but put yhe tylenol directly on the tooth and allow it to disolve if you can't handle the taste of adult tylenol then use junior I hope this hwlps good luck and feel better!

I was thinking the same thing, I'm sure they could have taken a foot off and I wouldn't have noticed much less cared at that point LOL

I'm glad to hear labor may be enough to keep my mind off it lol Yes, I've been like eating oragel. Sometimes it works for 2 minutes, most of the time it doesn't work at all -_- the pain, like radiates throughout my jaw so sometimes it even makes my head hurt. I've thought about the tylonal thing, directly on the pain like i had done with an infected cartage piercing years ago But I wasn't sure if it would be ok to do wile pregnant but I will definitely ask! so THANK YOU!!! lol As for a different dentist, I'm definitely not going back to that guy, but I'm pretty sure any other dentist will tell me its best to wait too at this point, probably just in a much nicer way lol Hoping my baby boy will come any day now so I don't have to wait to long!

I've been having horrible toothaches too & I have my csection scheduled for this monday...I've been trying my best to wait until after the baby, I dont want to put myself in that much pain right now lol.. But I have to have one pulled & it hurts mostly at night. The doc gave me tylenol with codeine & it helps if and when I can take it before it starts hurting bad

Are you sure you don't have an infection too? You could at least get antibiotics then...it kinda sounds infected.
