My 2.5 year old had an autism evaluation about 2 months ago and the lady just now called me back. She said she doesn't think my daughter is autistic but definitely needs another speech evaluation and has behavioral issues. I am glad she isn't autistic but was sort of unnerved to be told to call back if the issues continue and such. I pushed that her behavior has deteriorated even more since the eval but was told the same thing. call back in a few months. they didn't specify WHAT behavioral issues or anything. i'm irritated. i need help with my kid and i'm not getting it!
Im not an expert....but ive heard alot of talk that they cant properly diagnose till at least age 3.
im so sorry. my 2.5 year old will be getting his eval in october. i hope you get some answers
As sucky as it is, early intervention happens with a LOT of push from parents if a child is borderline (with issues)
Call your pedi and make an appt. ASAP for her behavioral issues and request to have her second evaluation at a different location. Tell your pedi that your child is DISTRESSED by not being able to communicate properly. It took my over 6 months to get my son into speech therapy but it was well worth it
You need to be an advocate. Start making phone calls!
My child was diagnosed at age 2 with autism and a lot of other things so I know the frustration you are going through. Try the therapies first before going straight to medicine. Don't let them push the medicine if you truly don't feel your child needs it. Good luck and hope you get the right diagnoses.
Its still kinda early from what Ive been told. They like waiting until the kid is 3 or 4 and its more obvious I guess. My son is 4 and will have his eval in October.

Waiting is typical because iteasiert o brush off symptoms at an earlier age but by 2 or 2.5 a doctor cn usually make a proper diagnosis
And e early the better. Early intervention does wonders for kids!!
So never wait! If you have a funny feeling it is always better to fin out soon to start a schedule of therapies.
Can you try the school? They evaluated my son at 3 and I also had another evaluation from a private place to confirm the diagnoses.

She won't be 3 until the end of March. I'm not sure if she even qualifies for preschool this school year.
