Being a Teenager VS. Being Mom -ChElSeY- 17 kids; Ontario 105 posts

Anyone else had this feeling? I love my baby girl, but sometimes I want LO to go away for a little while so I can just be a selfish teenager. I want to do whatever I want and not have to worry about someone else. I struggle a little but being mom and making sure my baby comes first always wins. I've always been mature for my age though. Unfortunately it's not the same for SO. He struggles with it more than I do. Being dad doesn't always win. I know he just has to grow up a little more but it bothers me sometimes.

I think all moms, regardless of their age, feel this way at some point. It's perfectly normal to need some "me" time.

I was a teenage mother and never felt that way.

I am now almost 30 and feel that way a few times a week.

Being a mother does not mean you can't have fun. And if you want LO to "go away for a while", maybe your not ready to be a mother?

I am 25 and I still need time to just be a separate person from my daughter. Every body needs time to just relax and have fun. I am lucky that I have a great support system so I get to have a fun night out once a week and a short night out once a week.

I wouldn't say that.

I was a teen when I had my son and I was too paranoid to leave his side. Now that he's older I am more comfortable with him staying at his grandma's for some alone time with SO but it doesn't happen often at all. Wanting time to be you is normal. No matter how old you are.

Everyone needs "me" time. Not just "teen mothers". It doesn't mean you are a bad mum or not ready.

Try and take it in small incriments. See if someone can watch your baby so you can watch a movie by yourself or go to the gym.

It's not even about being a teen...more like being human. Good for the moms that can say they have never felt that way, but I think most of us can relate to that feeling of wanting me/alone/adult time.

What do you mean?

Just because she'd like some time to herself, doesn't mean she's not ready to be a mother.
