Quoting awesomebrandi:" I like the light and tones in them and I particularly like 1 and 3, but the extra headspace on the other ones bugs me personally. And holy crap.. it looks like you live in Antarctica LOL"

thanks, those ones are my fav. too.

for some reason I have been liking the extra 'space' and negative space in photos lately. I just need to figure out how to do it right. lol.

and YEAH. lol, that's Lake Michigan in the winter.

it was 9 degrees out there while we were shooting.

Oh no definitely not. Just wondered if I wasn't just seeing things haha.

Quoting Ryleigh's Mama ♥:" Okay, so what are you guys' thoughts on this? SO's aunt owns a photography business in our town that ... [snip!] ... of a hassle since I'm pretty clueless on running a business right now. What do you guys think? Do you think it's a bad idea?"

You know, it's hard to say. It's always risky going into business with family but it sounds like it would be a good road for you as a beginner if she's well established. But, I would make sure to have EVERY THING in writing. It's the best way to maintain a relationship. You are the one who will best know her personality.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely a fan of negative space myself, but I'd just push it a little further, you know? To look more purposeful. To me, her head looks too close to the center of the frame, which makes it look less intentional. If there was even MORE space, I think it would look more purposeful as real negative space. Just my two cents. But I'm with you on that.

Alright I'll keep that in mind when I re-edit this photo. :)

Lol yeah I use it for just about everything but I also have a 55-300mm that I use for moon and other nature type shots. I haven't played with it in like a month though lol.

This is what I was thinking. I'm not going to give her a definite answer until after the mini sessions so I can get a feel of what it's like to work with her. & I will most definitely be getting everything in writing. Thanks for the advice!

I would give you some advice but I don't really have any. It sounds good to me, but since it is family it can be tricky.

The family issue is the only thing that worries me. Like if we don't work out, or I decide to go off on my own, I hope it doesn't make things awkward for us. But I honestly think she will be okay with it regardless of what happens. She's pretty laid back. & The biggest thing that makes me think I wouldn't mind is that we are still going to be doing our own individual shoots, but we can also work together for weddings & stuff. & We will be sharing costs of studio space & everything so it won't be so hard on me to start out. & She has a LOT more to offer equipment wise than I could offer her.

I'm sure I would be and yeah the price is a bit intimidating to me right now even if we do have tax money haha. I think I'm just going to get the 1.8 so I can get it now and stave money.
