The only CC I have is that when someone is looking away from the camera and you're giving space somewhere I feel like you should leave the space in the direction they're looking. Like he's looking to the right in some of the pictures and the space you left is on the left side (does that make sense? Lol)

That's just a personal preference of mine. It doesn't make it a bad photo and I think you done an awesome job! :)

Canon is def going to be better than a Fuji.

Even if you don't have a fantastic camera it's still good and beneficial to you to go ahead and take pictures, practice, get CC, and ask question! I had an olympus that wasn't very great and I still done all of the above and when I got my Nikon I knew what I was doing and now my pictures are so much better bc I know what I'm doing lol. Even if you have a $5000 camera you can still take pictures that will look like a little point and shoot took them if you don't know what you're doing.

So ask away ;) that's what this group is for!

I wonder if its all the shadows that are making it "not work"? Have you messed around with it in black and white with high contrast? I think it would look great in that set up, maybe?

I think for me it's because she's in direct light and the background is so busy. What was the fstop at? I think it would have looked a little better with a wider fstop.

I scrapped a lot from that area because of the sun she thought the background would look cool so I tried, the f/stop was at 8
