ok, when you guys have clients that want a session at a particular park, do you guys call that location to see if they allow posed photography or if you need a permit? Or do you guys just go and risk it

Quoting Mommy to 2 Silly Monsters:" Ok, since I'm still on a "high" from my Senior session I was thinking of putting an ad on Craigslist to see if I can get any hits. What do you ladies think, should I?"

I would do it if you're doing it for free. That way you get the practice without the pressure of a paying client.

Quoting Ryleigh's Mama ♥:" I call. Well, most of the locations I have done are private locations. I don't like going to public ... [snip!] ... every photographer goes there. So I find private properties of neighbors & friends & get their permission beforehand."

I've been calling around. But one of my friends told me I should just wing it and go out there and claim I didn't know :? I feel like that would be SUPER unprofessional in front of a client...

Well, one time when I used to model, I went to this location with a photographer & when we were just about finished with the session, someone came out to let him know it was private property. It used to be owned by someone else, & he didn't know it had been bought (It was where he grew up).. I didn't find him unprofessional though. I mean, people really don't know sometimes. & By the time someone would notice it or even bother to come say something, you might have already gotten all your shots.. lol.

You can if you want. :) I know I have issues with harsh lighting. My screen often shows one thing, with color before and after editing, and when I see it on another screen it's different, and no matter what I do, my photos are never crisp. I've tried automatic, manual, tripod, lower ISO and all that. So if you have solutions to any of that, it would be awesome. lol.

Still didn't get my laptop back yesterday. If I don't get it back today, I'm going to be mad. They originally told me Wednesday, LATEST. Then Wednesday they called and said yesterday, maybe today latest. And I have to redownload photoshop and fix all the settings to how I like them because DH fucked up the hard drive.

Sounds like you need to calibrate your monitor. Like for me the ones with the bubbles are really green/yellow/cool. I can't describe it very well lol.

Also if you've tried all of that your lens may be a bad copy and/or the focus is off and needs to be calibrated. I believe you can only manually calibrate your lens if you have a newer camera body that has that feature. Usually I believe it's only full frames that have it. Not sure about the semi-pro bodies though.

If your lens is still under warranty you can always send it to the manufacturer to have them look at it or take it to a camera store.

Okay, when I get home I'll let you know a couple things! Mainly it sounds like you need to calibrate!

I have the Rebel xti. I don't think any of it is still under warranty, but I have thought about taking it to the camera store. Looking back, my earlier snap shots were a lot more clear than the ones I take now, and I am a lot better with my camera now.

ETA: I also only have the lens that came with my body. I hear those are not too good. Not sure if it is true. Every time I save the money for a new camera and lens something big happens and I have to pay to have something major fixed. :(
