Quoting ~*Icat*~:" I had a shoot toady and fucked up. It was starting to rain, and I was a little frazzled and shot at 1.8 the WHOLE time. almost every picture where I pulled back is fuzzy. I'm pissed and sad."

:( I'm sorry hun.

I've been there. Thankfully, my clients were willing to do a re-shoot.

they'd be happy to do a reshoot. I did get a handful of decent ones, I guess. I'm just really disappointed in myself.

I'm not a professional either. Not by a long shot. I just bought it to help out my business, better to photo products. I do family shoots for my family too but not often.

Yeah I've seen your work around. We're Seuss obsessed around here so I noticed the hats lol. I've been wanting to branch out and start shooting other people starting for free but I still don't have the nerve to announce it. My life's about to start getting busy with summer ball too so I may not want to start up anything yet.

Ok ladies tomorrow os my first ever newborn shoot! I'm pretty excited about it and so is the mama I can't wait to get to it, I've read up tons on things and watched plenty tutorials but I've got the jitters! Anyone have any tips or advice based on how their first NB session went? We're starting around 12pm and going until whenever we feel we've captured what we wanted but I'm so scared IU'm going to mess something up!

So on tuesday I am taking pictures of my friends 5 year old daughter. I really have no idea what to do, or any ideas. I'm drawing a blank. Any ideas?

that's a pretty tough age. On one hand they listen better than toddlers, but on the other hand, they can't really do a ton of poses.

I'll post a few from the session I did with a six year old today. Just simple poses and head shots really go a long way with kids that age, in my opinion.

Props are always fun, too. If you have a chair you can pose her in, or I got balloons and some flowers for my girlie today. She LOVED Them.

My oldest is 5 but I didn't do a photo shoot with her on her b-day. I did do a Spring shoot with her but I didn't have any props. I just had her pose a few ways. Nothing too unique. I've posted these before.

Have them loosen baby's diaper when they come in. Strip the baby down to just a diaper to help clothing lines go away. Keep the house warm. A white noise machine works wonders, but if all you have is a little space heater, that's perfect! Until you are ready to shoot, just have the baby lightly wrapped in a blanket to keep him/her warm. If mom can, feed baby a little to help them get good and milk drunk. :) Then just take your time. If you are trying a pose that baby doesn't like, move on to another and try again later. :) Remember composite with propped positions and hanging branch shots. :D You'll do great. Most of all pace yourself. If baby doesn't want to sleep too well have mom nurse them or give them a paci. :) I'm not a pro, but I help friends and family out with their babies when they can't afford to hire a pro. You will do beautifully. :) (Can you tell it's my dream job so I am trying to learn all I can?)

I'm just really mad at myself for such a novice mistake :( Not that they will, but if they had wanted to blow one of these up, I'd have to say no because of how fuzzy they would be in large scale. Its just embarrassing.

gah, im so jealous of how great you did with direct sunlight!

and I love her choice of poses :)

Every time I told Zoe (little girl today) to chose her own pose, she either put her hand on her hip, and popped her leg out, or she threw both arms up in the air. It was super cute.
