If you ever decide to go to the beach, I've seen some cameras handle like champs. I've been out on South Point in Hawaii (high winds and A LOT of sand storms) and my D90 handled very well. Do I recommend doing it daily? Not at all. And protect best you can but as long as your encasing it properly when not in use and ensuring nothing gets into the sensors or shutter, you're fine. :)

I don't have like a lens shield, should I invest in one of them before hand?

Depending on how windy the beach is, it wouldn't be a bad investment. I keep my UV filter on to help protect my prime lens almost everywhere I go. I also have a lens hood as well. Lens hoods are also great to help with flares and light filtering in direct sunlight.

Hoods and filters are pretty inexpensive. I've found some on Amazon for less than $30 that work well. :)

For a Manual Education Seminar online, I HIGHLY recommend Photographer's Bling. They are amazing. There is a sale right now for a group class in June for $75. It's a 1-2 hour long class that goes over everything from Manual settings, to how to choose f-stops for different size of shoots, to how a camera works to better understand it. It's a great place to being. I know it's an investment but something to think about. :) http://www.blingactions.com/category/education-camera-101

Here are some SOOC. What would you do with the mark on the little girls head? Leave it right?

I would ask the mom, or if you want to be more subtle, do an edit with and an edit without and let her choose. I love that second to last one, though. Her squshy face is too cute!

I think I will ask her. I just wish I got more full body shots. I only have like one or two good ones. She was really tough because she was cold and they apparently didn't have a heater, so I kept her clothed and tried to wrap her. She did not want to settle though. The mom also didn't burp her after feeding. :? I thought that was a little weird. She also just wanted to be held the whole time. I told the mom if I feel like I didn't get enough good ones, I will do a reshoot. Once she fell asleep if I would try to adjust her she woke up crying. So I feel a little disappointed but I think they will like what I got.

Quoting B r i t t a n y !:" What settings would you recommend for taking pictures of a toddler outside? I have a Nikon D3100 with a 50mm f1.8 lens if that matters. "

well it would depend on the lighting, are you in direct sunlight or shade?
