Quoting Michael Westen:" You're only "making" like $170 of that (give or take) and you have already put tons of time into their ... [snip!] ... order but she only ordered $50 worth. So that's $8 worth. (Plus sales tax on the order which I obviously don't get to keep.)"

Yeah well that doesn't even include overhead - stuff like my website fees, professional memberships, insurance, equipment depreciation, etc.. lol. So it's pretty flimsy. That's why I tried to explain to someone who thought $250 should include files.. yeah.. I'd make like $2 an hour, maybe.

Quoting Michael Westen:" Right now I basically give them the facebook files. They can't really do anything with them. I just ... [snip!] ... get them, and then they are $50 a piece sized to 8X10. I pretty much try to steer people away from them unless it's a newborn."

Yes mine are $50 individual files as well.

What group is this? And I'm sorry but lead free doesn't change the fact that you're allowing a baby/kid to wrap themselves in electrical wiring!

Yeah it's stupid. People just want to make themselves feel better. I like to say.. 'Would it be cute if the kid was wrapped in an extension cord? Because that's what you're doing. An extension cord with easily breakable bulbs on it.

A group on FB. I've offered my opinion on images before and they just ignore what I say and go for the people that say "OMG IT'S PERFECT." Or someone else comes in and says that whatever I just pointed out was perfect and that they like it that way.

I don't even really think of the site and stuff because I pay that annually. But for my equipment and stuff, I am probably dropping $1800 on equipment here in about a month. I haven't even made $1800 this year! So that alone makes me about -$500. Lol. People think it's just a shoot and burn profession and it's not. I spend tons of hours each week working on advertising and education in the craft.

PCC used to be much better like a year and a half ago but new people always pop up around the holidays with their new cameras. Which is fine. But sometimes I'm just like "OMG read your manual. Thoroughly."

it's not the lights with lead, it's the PVC covering the electrical wiring and they still are coated with lead just because it helps the PVC from corroding. The lights themselves are of course dangerous because they can break so easily. I'm officially on break right now till January but I had made an exception for one of my maternity clients to do a newborn shoot for her when her baby arrived. Tomorrow's the shoot! Off to the studio to get it ready. :D
